Italian Pasta Marinara

Serves:4-6

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1-2 tsp bottled fresh minced garlic
  • 15 ounce can chopped tomatoes
  • 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 15-16 ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 tbsp parsley flakes

Directions

Saute onions, mushrooms and garlic in the water for 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer over low heat 1 hour until sauce thickens. Do not cover.

About 15 minutes before serving, drop 1/2 to 1 pound of spaghetti noodles into 4 quarts boiling water. Cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Serve the sauce over the noodles.
