Since May 2024, I have been following a diet based largely on Dr. McDougall’s dietary principles. Truth be told, I still occasionally include small amounts of animal products (mainly eggs and fish) about once a week, and at times I experience occasional setbacks. However, the majority of my journey has been surprisingly smooth, and I’ve found it incredibly rewarding to explore new spices and recipes that I had never encountered before.
Struggling with my weight has been a lifelong challenge, but I particularly struggled after moving to Berlin in late 2019, compounded by the pandemic, which had a significant negative impact on both my health and weight. Berlin’s renowned kebab scene was a tough temptation, especially for someone with a tendency for the Pleasure Trap. This made my road to health a particularly rocky one. Since adopting this new way of eating, however, I’ve experienced huge improvements in my overall well-being and have lost around 30-40 pounds. I’ve attached a picture to document my transformation.
I began preparing my own meals in May, always ensuring that my plates are balanced with 50% starches and 50% vegetables. In doing so, I’ve discovered countless new and exciting recipes, especially through the McDougall YouTube channel and the Well Your World YouTube channel, which have both been incredible resources and sources of motivation.
While Dr. McDougall’s books and lectures have been a continual essential source of inspiration, I also consult various other sources to deepen my knowledge. The guidance from your program has truly been transformative in my life, and I continue to appreciate the clear, effective approach to nutrition that it provides.
