I want to share that I had an amazing experience eating this way while pregnant! I had my baby on August 10th, 2021! This was my very first starch-based pregnancy after two previous pregnancies.

In my previous pregnancies, I gained around 60 pounds. I had constipation, heartburn, Charlie horse (leg cramps) in the third trimester, morning sickness from all the meat, swelling, tiredness, high blood pressure, baby blues, problems with milk supply and so much more.

During this pregnancy I gained 20 pounds, finally being in the normal range was new for me. I had no morning sickness, I speed walked for 30 minutes every day up to about a week before birth, no Charlie horses ever and had no swelling so I was able to keep my rings on my fingers the whole time. My ob-gyn did blood work and said my iron was AMAZING for being pregnant. She recommended skipping the glucose test and just checking blood this time around. I can’t get over how amazing I felt only a few days postpartum, I had so much energy to care for a new baby, a one-year-old and a 5-year-old. Not only do I feel great, but my baby also has a great supply of milk. I can’t get over the fact I didn’t look like a swollen balloon after delivering like the rest of my pregnancies. I got pregnant in the overweight category so I still have some ways to go but man do I feel amazing! Thank you Dr. McDougall!!!
