The Healthy School Meals Act of 2010

Note: this content originally appeared in our April 2010 newsletter. More up-to-date research may be available, but the message is still the same!

An important message from John McDougall, MD to ask you to help the children.

Congress is writing a new law that would help schools provide healthier food for their students. Now we need your help! On Wednesday, April 21, become a citizen lobbyist and call to ask your representative in Washington to support H.R. 4870, the Healthy School Meals Act of 2010.

We will help you get ready on Tuesday, April 20! You can join me and local student activist for a conference call to learn how to get involved and lobby your Member of Congress.

Hear more about the Healthy School Meals Act, why it is so important for the health of America’s children, and how you can ask your Member of Congress to support it by contacting him or her directly on Wednesday, April 21.

Let your voice be heard! The more people who call Congress on April 21, the greater the impact we can have. We need to act now to ensure that Congress enacts provisions in the Child Nutrition Act reauthorization to help schools provide healthy vegetarian options in America’s cafeterias.

Sign up to be a citizen lobbyist and ask your friends and family to join in too!
For the greatest impact, host a call-in party before or after school for students, parents, and concerned citizens in your area. Together we can make a difference for children’s health.
