302.2 today, down 2.2 pounds from last week.

Good week food-wise, but a really trying week at work. I need to look for a new job, and that's irritating, because I LOVE my job. If I just had a different set of co-workers!

I’m down 2.2 lbs! That’s a whole kilo.

Bought a new scale, because my old one wasn’t precise enough and gave a different reading every time you stepped on it. I realized that an accurate reading that gave fractions of a pound were very motivating for me.

I’m working on getting my meals balanced well. I’ve tried lowering the starch to 50/50, but I just feel hungry when I do that. I’ve cut out the high calorie foods for the most part, and flour products, so I’m pretty solid on the MWL guidelines. I am having more than two servings of fruit a day, but will only change that if weight loss stalls.

Tomorrow we’re going to the farmer’s market. I am looking forward to picking up zucchini to make these delicious recipes everyone is posting.

I'm even this week, neither gain nor loss.
I'm considering this a minor victory, during a really tough week. I had blood tests and a full-body nuclear bone scan on Wednesday, but haven't been privy to the results yet - my follow-up appointment is on Monday. It's going to be a LONG weekend of waiting, but I'm hoping for the best.

Welcome to the group, Abit!

Thumbs up to Lyndzie, Idgie & Jobet - great losses this week so far!

For the upcoming week, I'm getting back to basics and planning on following this SNAP template from Jeff -
1- 28 oz Can No Salt Added Tomatoes
1- 16 oz Bag Frozen Mixed Veggies (any type)
1- 4 oz Frozen Green Leafy Vegetables (collard, turnip, mustard, etc)
1- Around 200-250 Calories of a Cooked Starch (Brown rice, Yam, Potato, WW Pasta, etc)
1- Seasoning (to your preference)

Congrats to all the weight losses and staying the same. I went from 278.6lbs to 278.3lbs so a .3lbs loss better then the gain I was showing on Monday.

Hi everyone! Just reading posts here gives me so much positive energy! Congratulations to everyone. I'm reading The Pleasure Trap and read a quote that speaks loudly to me now:
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts"- Sir Winston Churchill.

I'm happy to report no gain this week!! This is very good because I've had some real compliance issues,,, On a positive note, though, I've joined a gym and started adding weight training to my exercise program. Today I spent 30 minutes on cardio and 20 -30 minutes on weight training. I like the atmosphere of this gym, which is key for me to keep going. And, it's only 10 minutes from my house. :D

So, 0lbs. lost this week. Still registering at 178 lbs.

I was up 1.4 lbs. Kind of a surprise. So I picked up some of the extra I lost last week.
It was down 2 lbs for the past mth/4 weeks.

I'm bouncing around my goal - which is how it should be.

I did simpler meals this week. I skipped the breakfast soup. Had potatoes and salad for breakfast.
I also skipped take out this week. One local Chinese place manages a pretty low oil stir fry. So funny - all of the things that might be suspect I skipped this week.

I weighed my envy apples this week. Wow. Instead of being one serving - I'm splitting them up into two servings. They were huge apples - 10 oz each. The problem was they were making me so full I did not want my lunch. I find it important to stick to my pre planned meals at work. Otherwise there are too many distracting options if I am hungry and willpower is depleted.

Vic
11/1/19 Sloppy - 137.6/21.55
1/1/19 Still maintaining - 134.8/21.11
10/12/18 Maintenance wt - 136.4 BMI 21.36
5/6/18 151.8 lbs 23.8 - Normal. 4/8/18 154.6 lbs BMI 24.2 - Normal. 3/11/18 161 BMI 25.2 Overweight.
3 years staying on plan is the goal.

I had a very good week and lost 5.4 pounds ! Wow ! I know that won't happen next week but happy with this loss for this week ! I planned ahead better and made sure I had things prepared that I like. Sometimes there is nothing around that appeals to me and then I start opening the cupboards and opening the refrigerator......and get into trouble. This week there was no trouble.

Cooking beets right now in my instant pot and have brown rice, pinto beans, zucchini soup, potatoes all cooked and ready to throw together into whatever sounds good to me. Also have salad "stuff" and veggies to steam as well.

Have a good next week everyone !

Hi Everyone! :-D

Congratulations on another amazing week !

I have gained .6 lbs. this week - not sure why, but not stressing over it as I have faith in the process.

Jobet, that picture of your tomatoes & cherries is mouth watering!!!

Marilyn, glad to hear that this week was better for you than last! I agree with you that beans "keep the hungries away"... :)

Moonlight, Awesome that you joined a gym that is close by and sounds like you have a great exercise program!! I am sad about the summer garden slow down. Can't wait to hear how your fall garden goes!!

Amy, Your zucchini are calling you... How wonderful that your friend shares tomatoes and potatoes too!!! Yummy!!

Sue, Agree! This is the best thread on the Forum!! Good luck with your organization project.

Abit, Welcome!! Glad you joined us here !! :-D

Idgie, Sorry you had a trying week at work. Hope next week is better!

Lydnzie, Yay on the new scale! Frustrating to have one that doesn't give a consistent reading...

Mark, Wishing you the best on your test results and patience to get through the weekend of wondering.

Rosie, Woot!!

Moonlight, Love that quote!

VIc, I'm with you on sticking to the plan at work -- or there is "danger"...

Hope everyone has a great weekend and week ahead!

Cheers,
Stephanie
I ❤️ the McDougall program!! It has given me a new lease on life.

Hi everyone! Amanda thank you so much for your constant encouragement offered to me and to all of us here. I admire and appreciate the amount of time you take to keep this thread alive and provide leadership and support!

Weight last week: 197.4
Weight this week: 196.8
Loss: -.6 pounds.

I have had some struggles this week sticking firmly to the McDougall plan and keeping my calorie density low. As with many others around this forum, I am challenged living with a SAD eating C.R.A.P. eating husband. This is something I need to learn to live with. I am going to ask him to keep his processed C.R.A.P. in a separate container in his basement office. First I have been leading up to this request by sharing with him my fears related to my recent blook work, and my committment to making this dietary change. He has heard me give lip service to McDougalling before. This time feels different to me and I'm showing him it's different so when I ask for this support, he will understand that I am serious and that it will really mean something for him to do this. At least that is my strategery LOL!

I think I may start noting my weight daily and then taking a weekly average. I'm hoping that might help ease some mental issues I have with the scale. Stepping on it daily is the right thing for me to do - otherwise I just lose sight of what I"m trying to do. But there is a mental challenge about having a particular "weight reporting day." I just want to see if keeping a rolling average eliminates that mental barrier.

Hope everyone is having a good week!
Beth

Lyndsey - Thank you for your version of Bun's recipe. I do still have lots of zucchini that needs to be used...LOL. I'm glad your new scale is giving you more reasons to be motivated. Good luck this week with your new adjustments to how you're eating, a little experimentation and you'll figure out that right ratio of starch to veg to keep you and Mae satisfied.

Marilyn - LOL, that sounds about right, it is the drawer where things go to wait-to-be-thrown-away. I will trade zucchini for soup, so please come and visit me. :) You really did have a good week. Congratulations! It sounds like you kept your home clear of those temptations and it really paid off.

Sue - Thank you for the recipe! Please tell McBailey that I greatly appreciate it. Thank you for noticing my loss, I am getting back into a nascent groove; I lost weight this week too. Woo hoo! Unfortunately it's weight that I gained while not weighing myself for all of those months. So, though I don't love weighing myself weekly, I need to get back to it for a bit. It was much too easy to let things ride longer than I should have because I didn't know the damage done. I love hoe one things leads to another, and happy to hear that you're getting things done. What kinds of meals are you planning? That tabbouleh recipe is so simple, thanks for posting it, looks delicious.

Welcome Abit - We'd love to have you join us. :) Congratulations on your Starch Solution successes thus far. You've done really well on the program. The MWL program is the perfect next step to get those last 25 pounds off.

Jobet - Congratulations on the loss! I'm making a quinoa salad for a dinner get together tomorrow night at my son's request. What kinds of things do you put with the quinoa? I love the big bowls because my meals are bigger than one regular sized bowl, but not quite the size of 2 of them...yet I'll eat a whole second bowl if I fill it, so this has been a great way to eat my 1.5 bowls worth of food and be comfortably full but not stuffed.

Idgie - Nice loss and I'm sorry to hear about your co-worker troubles. Any chance it's something that will be temporary and then you can go back to enjoying where you work? Considering how many hours of our lives it would be terrible to have to stay somewhere that was making you miserable.

Mark - Fingers crossed for those results this week. We are all hoping for the best for you too.

Rosey - It sure is better than a gain. Every loss equates to some good choices being made.

Moonlight - That's a great quote from the Pleasure Trap. It's my favourite Lisle/Goldhamer book! (Hehe...I hear that there will be competition to that opinion this year). I'm so glad you're checking in, even with compliance issues...and weighing in still...let me be an example of what not to do when things begin to unravel a bit. No ostriches here! Great work getting in some exercise.

Vic - You are doing great. This is what happens around goal weight. Those further refinements will eventually show up on the scale. :)

Stephanie - Great attitude! Definitely have faith in the process, when you follow the guidelines well your body will take you to the best weight for it.

Lizzy - You have a great strategy with regards to your requests to your husband. Your sincerity will shine through, so keep showing him how serious you are by giving it your best effort and he may come around to being very supportive.

Good Morning!

I have to report my weight loss for the last 3 weeks (didn't weigh in for 2 weekends).
I am down 11 lbs.

I am now in a maintaining phase for a bit. But I have still be fairly strickt to hold my weight.
I hope to loose another 2 kg (4 lbs) to the end of the year and to re-start my weight loss efforts again in early spring. If I can somewhat repeat my weight loss from this year (42 lbs) I am getting towards a healthier bodyweight :)
The last pounds I lost improved my flexibility and my 'body-feeling' so much, that I notice great changes when I treat patients in body therapy on the futon ... I am moving so much more smoothly. I love it!!!

I had an amazing seminar / training thing last weekend. It was on 'fascia as a sensory organ'. It was a fantastic group and at least two amazing things happened 1. I am invited to sit in (and possibly work with) a well know older lady who is an amazing osteopath, she is specialised on new born babies but does also still treat adults. People 'queue in waiting ling' to sit in her treatments, many are declined, because they can't take everyone who wants to come. But apparently she watched me treat people during the course and asked me if I want to 'work' with her. I am so excited and I will be there first time on the 27th. 2. The teacher of the training weekend and I will write a script for the course. It will be hard work for both of us but for me a great chance to get even more input and to be more precise, since we are putting it into writing.

I finally mad it to my summer break. I am off for two weeks now and I will be on two 4 day trips. One with a friend, starting on Monday and one by myself the week after. Too bad that the amazing weather is over :(
Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Svenja.

Svenja: What you posted about the Osteopath doctor and treats babies and also adults.....sure sounds like someone I know ! I worked on an OB floor working the nursery and post-partum. We had a female doctor that came up and treated babies with feeding problems. I was not a believer at first but when I saw the difference first hand I became a believer. She is no longer working at that hospital and moved to another in another state. You will love learning all that she teaches you. This may not be the doctor I knew but I am sure she is great !

So nice reading all the upbeat things people have written. Sounds like our group had overall a nice loss for the week!

Have a good weekend everyone !

Hi MWL friends,

I was listening to a podcast yesterday called How to be Happy from Freakonomics Radio and I wanted to share a bit. It introduced me to the concept of Hygge, a 20th century Danish style of living that means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people.
There was a statement made that had me thinking of our little group. When discussing hygge, Meik Wiking (pronounced Mike Viking), the CEO of The Happiness Research Institute said
Meik Wiking wrote:"With Hygge...we gave a word or language for people to appreciate something they were already doing"

I think it's something we are all do here, together, on the forum. The staff, the moderators and all of the active participants and posters who having been making a concerted effort to simplify things in a supportive and aesthetically pleasing way to aid in the experience of learning how to live a McDougall lifestyle.

Congratulations to everyone this week for checking-in and continuing your journey to health and weight loss. Thank you for the recipes and pictures and supportive comments that you post, it helps keep us all wanting to come back and weigh-in. Keep up the great efforts...they will bring you self-esteem, which will bring you happiness.
Have a lovely week and in true hygge style eat your MWL dinner by candlelight with friends one night, for extra enjoyment. :) If birthday candles count, then my dinner with family and friends tonight makes me an honorary hyggista!

Amy XO

Hi Idgie,

It is my daughter's birthday! I now have 3 teenagers (and one little guy) in the house. 3 teenagers! I think I am in shock. I swear I was 26 years old just last month...LOL!
