Aging in Style
Maybe to 100 with sensible care

I love life so much that I would eat a plateful of cardboard to spend another afternoon windsurfing, another hour playing with my grandson Jaysen, or another evening of pleasant conversation with my wife Mary.  About to enter my seventh decade of life, I can hardly believe how young and healthy I feel.  As long as I am functional, comfortable, and content, I want to live to be 100.  |MORE|


You’ll Get the Truth Only If There Is Money To Be Made

A letter from the Cardiovascular Center of St. Helena Hospital reminded me of how patients learn the truth. (St. Helena Hospital in Napa Valley California was the location of my clinic for 16 years from 1986 to 2002.)

Here is what the letter said:

“Question:  Are you seeing patients with post-operative CABG cognitive dysfunction?

"Answer: At St. Helena Hospital, we decrease the incidence of stroke and changes in cognitive function by performing beating heart surgery…”  |MORE|


Costa Rica McDougall Adventure 2006

Our next McDougall Adventure trip to Costa Rica is August 2 to 9, 2006.  The weather at this time of the year is some of the best we have found—relatively cool and little rain. The countryside is lush and green with vegetation and the animals are everywhere. This will be our 6th trip to this same location.  We have rented the entire El Ocotal Resort on the Pacific Coast.  MORE|
