The 10-day Live-in Maximum Weight Loss McDougall Program
First Program will be January 14-23, 2005.

The emphasis of this program will be to teach principles that allow the most effective weight loss – achieving the fastest and most loss possible in the shortest period of time – without in anyway compromising health.  The key to making this a successful program for people is that the foods will be delicious, easy to prepare, and they will never have to be hungry to lose weight.  In other words, this is designed as a lifelong program with no gimmicks.

Other health problems, such as high cholesterol and triglycerides, hypertension, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, and various bowel problems will be solved equally as well as with the regular McDougall Program.  Basic medical laboratory tests will be taken twice during the program – 7 days apart.  Blood pressure and body weight are measured daily.  John and Mary McDougall will be in attendance the entire program.

Some of the noticeable differences will be:

1)  Food will be served several times a day (at least 5 times), rather than 3 meals.

2)  All refined foods, such as flour products and sugars will not be served.

3)  Emphasis will be on bean, potato, corn, squash, and rice dishes.

4) Salads and green and yellow vegetables dishes will make up a larger part of the    program and will be served first.

5)  Fruits and desserts will be more limited and replaced by weight-losing snacks.

6)  Exercise will be 2 to 3 times a day, with the goal of providing a variety of exercise so   that you will find one you will enjoy daily.

7)  Lectures will focus more on weight loss.

8)  Extra time will be dedicated to the psychological factors that prevent people from        making changes that encourage rapid weight loss.

The goal of this program is to provide a lifestyle that works and is enjoyable for people who have struggled with their excess weight.  The average weight loss in a 10-day regular McDougall Program is 6 pounds for overweight men and 5 pounds for overweight women.  We expect to better those figures by an average of 2 to 4 pounds.
