I've recently been experimenting with
Frontier Soups.
These are soup
mixes, with full instructions on how to create non-compliant meals...
... but the ingredients of the actual mixes are fully compliant: no oil, no sugar, very little salt -- most of the mixes do not have salt added, but those that do seem to be below the 1:1 guideline. No preservatives or MSG.
For a 'soupy' soup, you can just add water.
For a 'hearty' soup, add a can of beans, or some grains, or some frozen vegetables.
There are
19 soup mixes, including:
- Enchilada Soup Mix
- Mushroom Barley Soup Mix
- Jambalaya Soup Mix
- Tortilla Soup Mix
- Red Pepper Corn Chowder Mix
- French Onion Soup Mix
When I made the Mushroom Barley Soup, I added 8 oz of fresh mushrooms. When I made the Tortilla Soup, I added 16 oz of frozen peppers. Experiment!
They also have
16 'hearty meal' mixes that I have not seen in the store.
For example: California Gold Rush White Bean Chili
Ingredients: Navy Beans, Sweet Potato, Onion, Red and Green Pepper, Celery, Paprika, Garlic, Cayenne and Spices. No added salt, preservatives or MSG.
