Pritikin said the Atkins diet would kill people (it evidently killed Atkins) and Atkins sued and won. Someone who had been on the Atkins diet for two years had a heart attack and sued Atkins and lost. The judge said we have freedom of the press and anyone can write anything he wants. The guy did not have to follow the advice in the book. So what it looks like to me is that anyone can freely advise you to do anything but if you follow that advice and it causes you harm you have no recourse because you made that choice to follow that advice.
Lots of people will read about the lawsuit and Kayla will probably garner more money from the publicity than she would have without the lawsuit.
I do not know what Kayla is selling but if it is another calorie restricted diet it is no different from the advice your own physician might give you to eat less and exercise more.
