hi to all, and thanks so much for all your encouragement. I think that being on a team and my 30 yr old son is doing this with me as well, will just help me stay on the WOE. I tend to have a Dh who loves to try to get me to cheat. He is getting used to the fact that I just do not want to and that is that. But truly DS and myself are alone in this huge ocean of SAD eaters. virtually all of my friends, and relatives think I have gone off the deep end again, and on some kind of a band wagon. It just helps to be able to see other adults and not on a DVd or computer community that are doing this WOE. I live in a county of tons of small family farms, and lots of little country stores, and even a Walmart and Kmart too!! But eating this way is truly an abomination to many of my friends and they had to get used to me doing this. And if I was not such a reader and curious about new proven ways to eat, I'd never of lost a lb!! but hey I am doing it, better than ever now. I am planning the team effort and the before and after lab reports to be a real incentive to me. We even have a graduation get together to share our stories on Nov 3rd.
How did I ever hear of this program of the Engine 2 teams? It was an email that my cardiologist shared with me. It had been in our paper but I never was it. Mercersburg is a 45 min drive away but thru lovely country side and all secondary roads too. I had told my doctors, internist and cardio that I went vegan, neither one had any kind of a reaction. !!! Esp the cardio. They just do not get too involved, and I need that I guess. I am really praying that my HBP would clear up and I'd lose enough wt etc etc. He did say, when you lose enough wt, it will. Of course he is talking of the American standards of 110/70!! It might never be that low. I am getting there. Slow but sure. so it was my doctor that told me about the public lecture on the engine 2 diet, it was hosted by the Mercersburg Wellness group, headed by a Elizabeth George, MD. Dr Essy was the speaker this yr. I had to go. since I have devoured all the books on this subject I can get my hands on. from any source. Rip's book is a good one too. I found the recipe that we had on the menu at the plant strong meal after the lecture. The cauliflower soup, that is yumm mee!
One of my biggest things to cheat with is home made bread, GF, sorgum and tapioca flour and that has got to stop. It is no longer candies, or meat or diary, that is long gone.
BTW I was having gall bladder issues, and then the fatty liver situation too (with 2 liver scans a full yr apart that said suspect fatty liver...) and finally my liver enzy came way down, and it was this WOE!! I never was a smoker, or a drinker of caffeine or alcohol and now not even herbal teas!! jeesh. I just drink my green smoothies I make up, or the green juice or water with lemon. My treat is some sparkling water from the Amish bump and dent store, they are divine!!
So thanks a million to all out there, for being with me on this WOE I just need the team feeling I guess. It is so important to my well being. So glad I have my oldest son who loves to cook vegan for us both!!
So thanks to Christine, yes we can do this,k the last 20 lbs. My wt tends to drop a wee bit,and then stabilize for a long time, and then go up and down, and then all over again. But hey I am still at 174-5 and loving it. My clothes are baggy again!!
Starchbeet, I love beets, have you ever had any beets with horseradish as a condiment. I cannot write the word, but it is something I can pronounce in my mother's language anyway. I would love to go on one of the McD adventures, but alas, the money is just not available..... one day, who knows? right? right!
Janiusv2heel. I think I do need the tangible encouragement and not just the virtual type. Esp with a Dh who will not do this will me. I make him up a few things, or buy it frozen for him, as I do not want to ever handle raw met, even with gloves on now that I know too much about it!! Personally I think he is in great shape for his age, and loves the broc, cabbage, cauliflower, etc veggies, brown rice, and salads too. Oh, and V8 low salt. Will not even try my green juice, all fresh and pure!! oh well, right? We all make our own choices and then we live with them too.
Oh yes, the MAC4Wellness teams are full of the people who had signed up after the lecture, WE are having pot luck meals every Thursday in October in the same town, and at a church I need to find on google too. My cardiologist and his wife did too. So cool, he is a bit hvy himself.... he said he never discusses wt with his patients since he is hvy himself. Then he told me that this diet is so compliant difficult.... and he would roll his eyes or look around the room and then I realized that he was talking about himself!! So here I go another day to stay 100% compliant and I will do it!! Thanks again for being so supportive!!

I have lost about 60 lbs and never thought I'd be in the 150s ever again. cured my NAFLD!! Feel great!! Wt loss is so good for the knees and back, ankle, that I know I will never start back to the SAD way of eating again.
