Your options being limited isn't going to change. The only thing that works is YOU changing. That is best assessed by you if it's going to work long term for you. For many the social deprivation of these choices is too much for them. Their health is just not worth the social cost. You probably have a sense whether that is true for you by now. If it's not worth it to you don't struggle off and on with this. It will drive you crazy and you will ultimately give it all up and eat anything you darn well please.
This plan has to be embraced and it has to become a lifestyle. If it's not it ends up just being a pain in the a**. It can be done and it can actually be enjoyable but it does require a certain mindset. And it also means a different different social world at times. There is no changing this. Some people can't make this change. Actually, most won't make this change. Those that do find the lifestyle has it's own set of rewards. Just one of those is better health. But really, don't try to fight this. Either embrace it or move on. If you don't mentally embrace the changes they will eat you up. It's not a pleasant way to spend your life. I am not sure how to tell you to flip that switch. It has to happen inside you. When it does all will be well. Not that there won't be issues from time to time, but they won't become lifestyle struggles. You will just adjust and move forward. It will become a positive force in your life, not negative.
