Postby Migman0001 » Thu Oct 04, 2018 6:14 pm

My doctor said my PSA is elevated to 4.5 and I really don't have many symptons but he wants me to go to have a special mri.I don't think I really need this. What is your suggestion?

I checked this website and still unsure whether to get this MRI or just wait.

Hi Migman0001,

Welcome to the site. I see you are new here to the site and forums. Please be sure to search the forums and site using the supplied search boxes as pretty much every topic/question regarding health has already been covered by either Dr. McDougall and/or Jeff Novick, who are the site experts.

To answer your question, Yes, from Dr. McDougall himself, who's science based advice I follow:

https://www.drmcdougall.com/health/educ ... te-cancer/

I hope you find this helpful,
Scott

Thank you guys for your response. I think I'll hold off on that MRIit just going to bring more problems down the road.

Curious as to what "problems down the road"? MRI is not invasive, no radiation exposure. If you would not want treatment then absolutely no reason to get further diagnosis.

But if you might do something differently from what you are doing, add or subtract, further change diet, do some sort of direct treatment, if you had a positive diagnosis, then why not?

Because if they did this MRI they would also be doing a biopsy and Dr McDougall says that can cause other problems such as inconsitance and sexual problems from the biopsy. I had an ultrasound biopsy already and am having erection problems.

By the way this is a special kind of MRI that if they see anything they will do a biopsy on the spot.

What were the results of the first biopsy?

Thank you for explaining. Very good reason to avoid I think. My understanding is that if you just check PSA again in a few months that tells a lot, if the same or less, no so worried, if going up that's cause for concern.

they were negative. But those ultrasound biopsy can and did some damage already. So I am reluctant to try other options. now do you get what I'm feeling?
