Some psych meds can cause horrendous withdrawal symptoms in some people. Zoloft and Prozac are notorious. I have seen several people have all sorts of painful, neurological symptoms even it they taper the dose down very slowly.

Strictly an uneducated guess, but I would think that if it were due to "getting old" it would be very gradual onset and not all of sudden.

I first heard the "getting old" comment from a doctor when I was 46 (FORTY SIX). I am now 67 and I have heard it a number of times since, never from my family doctor, but from other specialists and walk in clinic or emergency doctors. We have to speak up when they try to tell us that kind of nonsense. It's just doctor speak for "I have no idea what's wrong. Now stop asking awkward questions."

Hi, all. This hasn't been active in years, however it is very pertinent to me. Two things occurred - I had Moderna shots and my last one was the end of March. Plus I was weaning myself off a SSRI beginning May 8th. On the morning of the 10th I awoke with all my muscles hurting, especially in the shoulders, arms, neck, and shooting pains in the scalp. I believed it was from the vaccine or going off the med too soon. But the doctor ran blood tests and said it was polymyalgia rheaumatica. I have been a stricter McDougaller ever since, with no processed foods or gluten. Thanks to it, my pains are minimal now. But it's curious to me to be reading a similar story and it being from going off a med. Leads me to ponder if I really have PMR or not. I guess time will tell. At least I'm 98% improved. I practice yoga, use weight machines, and hour-long walks a few times a week. I never had this much energy in my life. I might add I'm in my early-80's, so I guess a physician probably would consider it age-related. Whatever it is, it was a blessing in disguise. I now an aware of the true value of the benefits of being a devout McDougaller.
Happy McDougalling!
