Lipid panel numbers vs what We Eat

Postby Tota123 » Fri Feb 26, 2021 6:14 pm

5 years on WFPB, 5’10” 154lbs. I eat NO, repeat no animal products of any kind and NO vegan junk foods or highly processed foods. NO added oil, no added salt, use date paste on my oatmeal. BP varies but generally in 120s/70s. Just got my latest lab results
Total Cholesterol 206
Triglycerides 161
HDL 43
LDL 130.8
Fasting glucose 100
Would love suggestions on what to do next? I am at my wit’s end as take in no cholesterol in our food. THANK YOU for any suggestions.

You are doing great and congratulations being on a WFPB diet for 5 years.

I also have higher cholesterol than I would like, seeing as many people on the McDougall Diet have cholesterol levels around the 150 mark or less. I started the McDougall Diet around 230 and the last time I had it tested it was 200. I too follow the McDougall Diet closely. But there are some things that can raise cholesterol, I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis which can raise cholesterol, I drink coffee (about 1-2 cups a day) and I eat a lot of fruit which can raise triglycerides. Plus high cholesterol runs rampant in my family.

So all in all I wouldn't worry, just continue eating plant based no oil and live a worry free healthy life!

Good advice!
If you are older than 40, it is also worthwhile to get calcium score for your arteries.
The test cost about 100$ and only exposes one to about 3 chest X-rays.
If the score is very low, you can be even more sure everything is fine.

:crybaby: Wow, this has to be like super discouraging. You said you have eaten strictly this way for 5 years with no deviations. How were your numbers 5 years ago soon after you began this WOE? Is your blood pressure normal? What is your age if you do not mind sharing? Do you have any family history of cardiovascular diseases?
