Good luck, Idgie. I'm rooting for you! It's like we are running a marathon - or maybe just walking the marathon. Just stay the course, right?! Day 2! Day 2! Day 2!

Day One

Postby Idgie » Fri Nov 16, 2018 10:34 am

I had a bit of a wake-up call this morning. I thought I had gained weight (I hadn't; I had misremembered last week's weight) and I was tempted to lie on the weigh-in thread about it. That made me realize I was in a bad place where I'm valuing weight over compliance. It really snapped me out of my bad headspace, and I am feeling more like myself now.

Plan for today:
B: Oats and apple
L: Oat/corn mush, four-bean salad, baba ganoush
S: Soup
D: Partner is making black bean enchiladas (oil-free)

Actual:
B:
L:
D:
S:

Woo-hoo! On to day 2, finally!

Plan for tomorrow:
B: Oats and apple
L: bean tacos and veggies
D: pasta (the kid is coming for dinner and requested spaghetti and meatballs. I'll obviously skip the meatballs)
S: veggies. lots of veggies. :-)

Day 2

Postby Idgie » Sat Nov 17, 2018 8:41 pm

Thank you so much, Mark!!

Really good day today. A little tempted by the meatballs I made for the rest of the family, but I had enough good food around that it wasn't irresistible.

Plan for today:

B: Oats and apple
L: sweet potatoes and veggies
D: pasta (the kid is coming for dinner and requested spaghetti and meatballs. I'll obviously skip the meatballs)
S: sweet potatoes and veggies. lots of veggies. :-)

Actual today:
B:
L:
D:
S: fruit salad

Day 3!!

Postby Idgie » Sun Nov 18, 2018 11:29 am

Woke up this morning dreaming about farina (cream of wheat) and in my dream, I was frustrated because I kept getting thwarted in making it (pots were old and rusty, milk (even though I don't really use milk) was out of date, etc.). When I woke up, I checked my blood sugar, and it was 80, so I think my body was trying to get me to eat some carbs. :-)

Plan for today:
B: sweet potatoes and salsa
L: Veg soup
D: Veg soup
S: Veg soup, fruit, sweet potatoes

Actual:
B: maple-date farina  (forgot to take a photo, but farina isn't all that photogenic)
L: sweet potatoes and homemade melon salsa
S: 2nd half of lunch
D: bean sopes with salsa and lettuce -- not giving myself a thumbsup for this because there was a quick spray of Pam involved, but I'm still counting the day as compliant enough to be happy about, but not enough to move on to day 4. Again, forgot to take photos, which is a darn shame because they looked so good.
S: kimchi slaw

Woot! Woot! Day 3! Way to go! (BTW, I've been charting my compliance which includes eating ONLY MWL food and exercising. I only made 1 fully compliant day in the last week. It's really hard to do!)

That's a funny story about your dream. I LOVE cream of wheat. I'm gonna have to make some. I've never had salsa with sweet potatoes, either. Thank you, Idgie, for 2 new menu ideas!

Thanks so much for your support, moonight! I find compliance is MUCH easier if I eat enough and have enough easy/fast/instant food around that's compliant.

Day 1

Postby Idgie » Sun Nov 18, 2018 9:14 pm

Bought the stuff for a big pot of soup today, but didn't make the soup; will do it tomorrow, which is Day One again because of some Pam spray, but I'm not too bummed about it, because really, I'm in the groove. Am baking a couple more sweet potatoes for tomorrow's breakfast, and next I'm going to dry-roast some chickpeas to take with me tomorrow to the hospital for mom's cataract surgery. Will also take an apple and a pull-top can of something compliant just in case I'm there longer than I think I will be.

Plan for tomorrow:
B: sweet potatoes and melon salsa
L: dry-roasted chickpeas and an apple
D: veg soup or sopes (without any oil), depending on what partner wants
S: soup, fruit

Day 1

Postby Idgie » Mon Nov 19, 2018 11:06 am

I was feeling sick from the muscle relaxants, so I went to bed early and forgot about my sweet potatoes, so I left them out all night and tossed them this morning. I also didn't roast any chickpeas. New plan for the day:

B: veg soup
L: still figuring this out -- I have 10 minutes before I have to leave, so I'll figure it out and report back
D: veg soup or sopes (without any oil), depending on what partner wants
S: soup, fruit

Actual:
B:
S: a few chickpea croutons, a V-8, and an apple at the hospital
L: black beans and salsa
S: 2 dates
D: took a bite of an Engine 2 burger and disliked it, so I ate unfried ramen, then made a pot of vegetable soup
S: bowl of soup

Plan for tomorrow:
B: oatmeal and apple
L: veg soup and sweet potatoes (skipping the work potluck)
D: veg soup
S: veg soup

Yummy! that pasta plate looks delish! I have noodles, and sauce AND some veggies :unibrow: think I've just figured out dinner.

Muscle relaxants are the devil. They knock me out so bad, and not in a relaxing sleepy way. Just dopey and wobbly. Blech. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Day 2

Postby Idgie » Tue Nov 20, 2018 8:50 am

Thank you! Tried a day without the muscle relaxants. My neck's a little worse, but I slept pretty well last night -- only woke once.

I am happy I made a pot of vegetable soup yesterday. Sometimes I forget how lovely it is to have a bowl of basic vegetables.

Plan for today (adjusted because I woke up wanting soup, not oatmeal):

B: veg soup
L: veg soup and sweet potatoes (instead of the work potluck -- might take enough sweet potatoes to share)
D: veg soup
S: veg soup

Actual:
B:
L:  (and grapes)
D: partner's vegan black bean enchiladas (no oil)
S:
S: a date and some seaweed snacks

Ate ZERO foods at the work potluck, yay! Took my lunch and ate that and only that.

Plan for tomorrow:

B: chickpea-flour "omelet" (a.k.a. chilla)
L: veg soup and sweet potato
D: veg soup and sweet potato
S: veg soup and sweet potato
