textured soy protien

Postby atrapos » Sat Mar 03, 2007 9:48 am

Hi everyone,
I bought textured soy protien from the health food store as a meat replacement. Has anyone ever tried it? I looked up recipies on the internet and the food made out of it looked quite good. :D

Atrapos, I have cooked with it and had good results, but the bad news I hate to bear is that most TVP is made with isolated soy protein. Dr. McDougall is not a fan, and here is the reason why:

Despite the goods or the bads, I've had it several times. Mostly because my hubby is a meat eater and I try to comprimise our dinners often. Anyway, it is okay (not amazing) and hubby recently told me he likes tofu better anyway ;) So mostly sticking with tofu for now (though I do have some tvp in the cupboard I'll eventually use up).

That's one of my favorite things about this program. Being restrictive to the bad foods we like almost forces us to expand our horizons and search out new things to enjoy :)

Let me know how that dragon fruit tastes, I've never even heard of it and may have to give it a try!!
