peanut butter

Jeff, what is your take on non organic peanut butter? I have been told that peanuts are a very highly sprayed crop. We do eat some peanut butter, but we are in good health, and do not have weight problems.

Hi Melinda,

Peanuts and peanut butter can contain aflatoxins which are a mold that can be toxic. They can be as common, if not more common, on organic varieties as with non organic.

There are some long discussions here on Organics, where you can read my opinion on the whole issue.

My main concern with peanuts, (which though tecnhicaly are a legume are classfied as a nut due to their nutritional profile), is their calorie density. MY thoughts and comments on calorie density would apply here.
