@frozenveg I started taking B12 already before switching to this diet. My problem is, that my body cannot absorb it properly. So we have to find out which form my body accepts and therefore I am willing to take all possible choices. It is for sure, that I will come back to this way of eating since I not only felt great with it but could solve some other issues as well.

@roundcoconut I get your point of view, but I think I am able to distinguish between having an impulse to eat or being real hungry. Like I said before it's a side effect from medicine. If you think eating this way makes everybody prettier, then this is your opinion. I personally believe nobody is ugly by his or her appearance. Being ugly is a a character attribute to me. Maybe you mean looking healthy by naming it "pretty". People who follow this way of eating seem become healthier and so they look like it.

To be honest, I didn't read ALL books about a vegan diet on this planet, but in those I've read I couldn't find any information about growing hair back. The only one I can remember who said something considering being vegan and growing stronger hair was youtube lady, FullyRawKristina. So no real facts or studies that could calm me down and let me believe that everything will be fine, if I just go on.

Since I am no doctor and no expert, I can do nothing than trust in my doctor's therapy. I don't know if this is wrong, neither do I know it's right. I don't want to offend you or cause trouble here, but it's always easy to make a hasty judgement if you cannot understand the opposite's situation. And losing some lose hair in the brush is simply not the same than waking up with a bald spot on your head as big as your hand.

Maybe it would be helpful to callibrate your actual RESPONSE to hunger, by reminding yourself that your actual body is not always hungry or needing food — some of what you’re experiencing is just an impulse coming from the medicine. I don’t know — that’s just the way I would approach it.

Developing a calorie surplus, in addition to other issues that are going on, would not be a positive outcome. There are sometimes situations in which we cannot do anything right now to make things BETTER, but there are things we could do to make things worse. So being conscious of this, it might be good to be careful not to add a calorie surplus on top of other issues.

Perhaps you are just letting off steam, and these ideas will fall on deaf ears? either way, I will offer them to you, and no harm if you go in another direction instead.

Of course, it is just my opinion that people who’ve begun to eat well glow with “beauty”. I just like the word beauty and the word pretty. But radiance and vitality can animate the human body, in ways that no fashion model or porn star can touch. I honestly don’t see outward beauty coming forth from people who smoke, or have had a lot of cosmetic surgery done. You just can’t buy outward beauty, even though I think we can glow with prettiness after a while, through a bit of time and adherence. :)

Hi Bronwen,

I'm new here (one week in), so take this with a grain of salt, but I think you are not eating enough at meals. If you eat enough starch at every meal, you should feel pleasantly full for a long while. If you are hungry in a couple of hours, eat some more starch. I think your body will catch on if you feed it plenty of starch.

I run deficient on B-12 too, but I don't think it will be a problem. I'll just take some B-12, that's all.

You have lost weight and otherwise are succeeding. I suggest that you don't be quick to give up until you try eating more starch with each meal. Just my two cents!

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do! :)
