I started McDougall to help with my migraines, and it has helped alot
A great side effect is losing weight effortlessly without counting points, calories, or anything.

Yes, they happen less frequently and I am able to take less medication for them than before. Also, I am able to do alot more before triggering one.

Now 16 pounds

Postby prism » Thu Oct 09, 2008 7:57 pm

Wow, now it's at 16 pounds.

I'm so excited to see it on the scale and to be wearing some jeans I've had in the drawer for 2 years without wearing...

But it seems like no one at work has noticed, which is disappointing..

Anyway, I was looking at my previous answer and it was a little misleading because I have read all the McDougall Books and the China Study and Dr. Esselstyn's book and am using a little bit from all of them. I acually am avoiding alot of the foods in Dr. McDougalls weight loss program book, but do allow them as occasional treats... things like olives, avocados and nuts... A real treat is a very small bit of feta cheese in my pita sandwich...but I'm getting so I don't even need that anymore...

Why are you avoiding many of the foods on McDougall's weight loss plan?? They are fine.

Just remember the items you said you do have, as those may cause you problems down the road. You have to keep a handle on. The feta is dairy so if you are feeling bad, that may be why.

I believe it said to avoid things like avocadoes and olives and nuts because of the high fat content and higer calorie density. So I don't eat them as part of my regular diet, but only as an occasional treat.

Postby prism » Fri Oct 10, 2008 8:07 pm

So I was complaining last night that no one at work had noticed my weight loss.. and then today someone walked up to me and said I looked great and asked how much I had lost.

Congratulations! It's wonderful to hear that the migranes are less frequent. It'll be great when you have no more.
