Not "Lazy" Anymore

Postby prism » Wed Sep 10, 2008 10:31 pm

So, something I've noticed is I'm not "lazy" anymore.
I've had such extreme fatigue the past few years it was all I could do to make it to work and home again. I was not getting anything extra done, and often thought to myself "maybe underneath it all I'm just a lazy person"
But after 8 weeks into this, I find myself restless in the evenings, and getting up out of the chair to do chores and errands...I'm finally getting caught up on things that have been put off for months...
I just feel so good to know that when I have my health back, I'm not really "lazy" at all!
It's nice to feel like I'm living life again....

That's wonderful. I was so fatigued that I actually had to stop working before I wanted to. I have hypothyroidism which makes me fatigued and being overweight just made me even more tired. I am beginning to regain my energy though. Glad to hear the McDougall program is working for you. :)

Beth, I've had the exact same experience. I actually want to do things in the evenings and am surprised to find how much energy I have. I find I don't want to "waste" all those good feelings on sitting around so I busy myself late at night and also early in the morning catching up on things.
I told my husband not too long ago that I'm no longer lazy.

How 'bout that for another benefit of eating right?

Yes, I still find it so hard to believe when so many of the things Dr. McDougall said would happen after following this diet actually happen to me. I can't believe what a difference food is making.

I felt the same way after a couple months on the diet. I finally felt like exercising. Unfortunately one of my legs didn't agree so I'm in a bit of a slump right now, but I hope when I start running again my leg will agree with me. Yes, it is wonderful to -want- to do all of the things I should be doing. Glad to hear you're getting results, too! :)

Beth, your post brought a smile to my face. I am so exhausted all the time and your experience, as well as Nettie's and other people, makes me realize that my food choices are contributing to my fatigue. Thanks for posting

Birdy,
I hope you get the same results soon. Extreme fatigue really ruins your life.. Causes depression and ruins your self-worth... Then the change in diet starts to turn all that around...
Let us know how you are doing

Me too!
A month on the programme and I am getting up before my toddler gets up to fit in a yoga session. If anyone had told me that I would have been able to do that a month ago I would have laughed.

Prism,

I've been meaning to post for several weeks, sorry it has taken me so long. Remember: extreme fatigue does not equate with being lazy. You were not lazy. Ever. I just had to say that. You were carrying around a fatigue that you didn't have to and now you are releasing it. :D I guess that lazy has very negative connotations for me.

:-D Congratulations on the good work! :-D
