weight fluctuations

Postby pdenchfield » Thu Sep 01, 2016 12:34 pm

Following are my weighings from Aug 1 to today minus a couple days that I forgot to weigh myself.

On Aug. 1 I was 158.2, then on Aug. 31 I was 157.0 for just over a pound lost for the month - but today Sept. 1 I am 153.4 ??? for almost 5 pounds lost for the month???

I cannot see any parallels to exercise level or diet. I've been strict MWL every day, eating salad for part of my lunches and dinners most days. This week I've stepped up my stairmaster sessions to 60 minutes, twice a week (plus my yoga classes and weights). Trying to get to 135 - I'm 5"4' and my weight was 125 at age 20. Any ideas why my weight is fluctuating so much?

Thanks!
Pamela

it's normal that your weight fluctuates between days. It's more important to see that over long period the direction is right.
the scale don't show if the weight is from more stuff in your digestion track, maybe you holding a bit more water one day, how much glycogen is stored in your muscles, maybe you also gain a bit muscle.
Check your size (maybe tummy and legs) this can show the progress sometimes better than the scale. how do you feel in your clothes, compared to the last month?

If possible, try to stop weighing yourself every day. That can be so hard on your mind. Many things can make weight fluctuate. I used to stress over this and get frustrated because I even weighed more at different times of the day.

If you want a double check, maybe list exactly what you eat and drink for a few days. Sometimes there is a detail that people are missing.

Thanks, Anja and Leslie! Great suggestions.

I do feel slimmer in my clothes! Just tried on an A-line dress yesterday and looked surprisingly svelte! One of my old trust tops now feels like a mumu - loose and swinging on my instead of tight-fitting. I need a different fit/style now :D

I did not know that daily fluctuations were normal. Just got a scale so this weighing business is new to me :D
