Sep 10 talks :
Nikki Bravata promotes pretty much all of the quack cancer cures from A to Z which are all very profitable and victimizes lots of desperate cancer patients including Steve Jobs. There was a newbie china actress (Xu Ting or Kitty Xu Ting) with lymphoma who did not have enough money for conventional cancer treatment (the money she had earned was used to pay the debts of her parents and to help support 6 siblings, and I heard the old 1 child policy was only in cities) so she went with traditional chinese medicine (tcm) and no surprise, she did not live long and died at age 26. The juicing and enema cancer cure of gerson therapy has been debunked by Dr Greger. Frequent enemas can rupture the colon. The alkaline diet is obviously pseudoscience since it demonizes many healthy foods like whole grains and legumes (paleo diet is also pseudoscience). According to the alkaline diet, even carrot is acidic and should not be eaten so it is obviously pseudoscience.
The weight loss diet of Andrew Taylor is:
Potatoes and sweet potatoes. Minimal dried and fresh herbs, spices and fat-free sauces (such as sweet chilli, tomato sauce or barbecue sauce) for a bit of flavor. Some soy milk for mashed potatoes. Maybe take b12 supplement just to be sure. I am not a nutritionist so I have no idea if potato and sweet potato are reliable sources of iodine. Personally, I use wakame and dulse for iodine. The 1949 okinawa diet was slightly deficient in b12, b2, zinc and calcium, but they were able to get plenty of vitamin d from sunshine.
Chiropractor Alan Goldhamer has published 1 study on the case of a 42 year old woman with lymphoma who was cured by water only fasting and the unrefined vegan diet with b12 (no sugar, no oil, no salt) of the Truenorth Health Center, and probably need larger studies and more studies to rule out spontaneous remission.

Our old home had a medicinal mortar and pestle. We also had antelope horn that we would grind on the wet mortar to produce some white powder that we mixed in water to drink as a treatment for fever:

In his presentation, Geoff Palmer promotes "Ahiflower oil" as a superior vegan omega 3 source. He points out several studies, which supposedly compare ahiflower oil to other omega 3 sources, and show that it always comes out on top.

From what I found on other websites, these "studies" were all conducted by a supplement company, and another independent study showed that ahiflower was only able to increase EPA, but not DHA. Since EPA is the less problematic omega 3 because conversion is more efficient than with DHA, this is a serious shortcoming.

I don't see that ahiflower provides any additional benefits in comparison to other cheap and readily available plant-based short-chain omega 3 sources, such as flaxseed or walnut - except for the company selling it.

A vegan doctor used to say bad things about flax seed powder in order to sell his particular ALA oil. He would even tell everyone he was doing charity work to influence people to buy stuff from him.

There's no telling whether they're selling the real deal or something else:

Molecular identification of antelope horn by melting curve analysis.

Speaking of Chinese remedies, this stuff is pretty funny as well:

I just found this.

Meet the meat lover who lost 230 pounds by eating plants and running

This was on the Today show. I wonder how many people saw this show.

Thanks, I just watched the video.

I like the part where Megyn Kelly talked about plant based diets, how "we've been hearing a lot about them" (or something like that).
She wasn't ready to sign up but siad it was good food for thought.

That seems like a real indicator to me .....this WOE is something that is getting a foothold out in the mainstream, even if it as something weird and extreme......people have heard of it..... Which I think is fantastic.

I think that lots of people watch the Today show. So, that show might have persauded many people to try a plant based diet. And the mention of the Forks Over Knives documentary was a good thing too.
