Freele Calls Vegans Losers & Durianrider Sued ?

FL is mad as a snake at the two girls who accused her of using their content without giving credit. Here's a shot of her responding to them (under a guest post on DR's FB). First she calls them ungrateful losers (ungrateful for what? Is she projecting like DR now?). Then, almost 24 hours later, she leaves another comment. It must be eating her up!
I don't think that festival/holiday is going quite as planned.

RE: the Vegan Gains horse cop video

I think it gets to the point with some animal rights folks where they are so tired of it that they become confrontational to try and wake people up to the cruelty and abuse that we all ignore. Some people will respond to that kind of in your face message, some won't.

I have no idea what the real story is with Freelee and Durianrider. I don't watch their videos, but I would defend their right to make them. I also find it interesting how people separate into cultures and subcultures with a whole different set of social norms. In my mind, I associate them more with the fruitarian raw food movement. In that milieu, the types of videos they make are not as out of place as in the more mainstream vegan movement. Scandals, scams and feuds are pretty common in the raw food movement, and is part of why it is no longer as popular in my opinion.

Personality clashes and drama are normal in any group or in any couple. I do no live in the tropics or in a tree so I do not try to do a fruit based diet. I heard chimpanzees eat mostly fruits, other plants and a small amount of insects.

it's exactly like building a bike out of 100% stolen parts and then calling the cops when it gets stolen. the girls vid was all stolen content. they did a nice job organizing it, and it got jacked again and reorganized. no basis for a claim. hey you stole my stolen bike!

You're good friends with Freelee so you may be a little biased. :!:

The kids who re-edited those clips just wanted a little credit for it, that's all. But it turns into a vegan hierarchy pissing match where Freelee needs to assert her status. 'For the animals'. Uhhhh sure Freelee, whatever you say.

I agree, she did link them, but then they went ballistic on her for using a youtube link & not a facebook link... (#1. the content is on youtube #2 if you link off youtube your channel gets punished (you get 1 approved site, though). They could have just made a comment "if you want to see more celebrity mash ups like the purse footage follow Get Upset on Facebook"
we need to figure out how to help our community resolve differences in a better way, but then again, maybe all this drama draws new people in who take sides and don't realize they've become vegan regardless of who's side they take :)

Sure, these kids are a little bit irresponsible in their reaction but who's wanting to be the adult in the room. I think Freelee is about 20 years their senior. She could work to resolve it peacefully and set a cool tone for everyone to witness. But you know.....

I hadn't looked at any of this stuff for a couple of weeks, and it seems have just gone further and further off the deep end in the meantime. I happened to see a video by Joe of BestTransformation, where he posted his Youtube view numbers for his videos about nutrition and lifestyle, versus ones about drama among vegans. There was a massive jump in views when he started to comment on the drama, of course, so it's not hard to see why this keeps going around. People are naturally drawn to stories and drama, certainly over weight loss tips or another hummus recipe. Now there seems to be a number of Youtubers who only do gossip-column style commentary on the drama with no other content. I have to say that I'm amazed that there are people making something of an income by publishing and inventing gossip on, not the Kardashians or movie stars, but vegan Youtubers that almost nobody has heard of in the bigger scheme of things. That's the internet growing the economy, I guess.

Anyway, here's an actually informative hour-long one by Jeff Nelson on the history of the UK Vegan Society and the definition of "vegan". This was all news to me and I found it very interesting. The issue of the angry, holier-than-thou vegans was there right from the very beginning.

Nice video.

I want as much distance between myself and these vegans, especially the animal rights, ethical vegans, as I can get. These people are lunatics.

I saw one of them allow herself to be branded with a cattle branding iron. And I think that Vegan Gains fellow said he was going to upload his grandfather having a fatal heart attack to youtube for animal rights. Wow! You got problems son. :\

The fanatical, culty, antics and attitudes might play well in their minuscule circle of associates, but out in the real world, they come across as absolutely insane. And rightfully so.

It's just food people. Not religion.

+1

To many people, including ones who frequent these discussions, to bring ethical considerations into diet is lunacy, and apparently somewhat offensive.

Perhaps suggesting that behaviors, in this case, diet, have meaning beyond one's personal benefit is uncomfortable.

OTOH, quite a few have come strictly for personal health, and have a left with a wider perspective.
