I didn't know there was anyone who doesn't like Ray Cronise. I DO like him, and happily listened to this podcasts with him!
He talks in this podcast about the boogeyman of metabolism -- the dumb myths that won't die. He says, "In three years, I have never once measured someone with a broken metabolism." He says metabolism basically tracks with body mass -- and describes what "metabolism" is in very specific scientific terms. So needed in this culture of dumb pseudomyths that have become central to a dumb, dumb discussion!
Another thing I love is that he talks about the chronically fed body -- the body that is fed meals and snacks from sun-up to sun-down. I sense, from personal observation, that chronically fed bodies are not the way. Humans do seem to need breaks from the onslaught of food and more food, and while there is getting to be a decent body of knowledge on the benefits of Intermittent Fasting, there is not yet any data or dialogue (that I know of) on the damage & dangers of being a chronically fed human.
It's just so freshing to hear someone who is not in lock-step with the talking points of the plant-based community!
(For example, I am so tired of hearing about McDougall and Esselstyn and Pam Popper, talk about how a SAD diet affects male orgasm, but no one ever bothers to talk about female orgasm. Is it impacted by a SAD diet? Is it improved by a plant-based diet? Does anyone notice or care? They don't seem to!)
