Adding my congratulations! I'm impressed (and have been - since I usually checked your Journal). Now, I need your firm resolve, so I can get that "downhill" slide on my weight chart. I know you are proud of yourself.

I was thrilled to read that you have always chosen whole foods, even when an omnivore. I've been cooking homemade food from scratch for my whole adult life, avoiding processed foods (but not "good, wholesome fats" like butter and olive oil...) I've always eaten my food "as close to the way God made it as possible." I also never had any health problems, not even high BP, and was deep in denial about being obese (and at 275 lbs, I WAS morbidly obese)

I, too, have used recipes from "Diet for a Small Planet", "More With Less" and I was doing Fit for Life before I came on board with McDougall!

I thought I was eating wonderfully healthy...and yet 120 lbs overweight!

well, anyway. Parts of your story read just like mine. :) that's why it's so encouraging to read...I know I can get there. thank you for telling your story.

Thanks, everyone! I will definitely be sticking around--the race is definitely not won yet! I am always prey to feeling overconfident, and overindulging on just the wrong thing, even if it's whole grain bread...I ascribe a lot of my success to this website being available and the fact that I come here every morning before I start my day, to get recharged!

Buns, I always felt an affinity with you, and now I see some of the reasons! We are obviously of the same generation, and have also obviously been trying to eat whole foods most of our lives. It's the butter, olive oil, peanut butter, tahini, avocado, and (probably) Costco-sized jars of nuts that helped me (us) get to and keep the extra 100 pounds! You keep going--you are on your way down!

Jan, you probably did see my name on Debbie's blog. I also now think of myself (on this forum) as Frozenveg! It comes so naturally. When DH took that "after" pic of me--in the blue fleece--I had to take off my hat, coat, gloves and scarf, and I was VERY frozen, indeed! It was about 25 degrees that morning.

Really--thank you all! I owe my success to the support on this board!
