Re: photos from the brunch

No, they are all there, but for some reason only half show up in the slide show, then you have to go down to the bottom and click on the next ones to get them to be a different slide show. I didn't plan this, it just happened. Clearly, I don't know what I'm doing. The slideshow link you gave is to ...

Re: photos from the brunch

I'm going to try posting a link to some photos. Let's see if it works. http://www.flickr.com/photos/20649616@N03/show/ Yep, it worked! Welcome to Flickr! If you put the rest of those photos in the set that you created for the McDougall brunch, then you can also link to them this way: http://www.fli...

We have a doctor's scale so it is very accurate and also impossible to just throw in a closet. After months of stressing over it I decided to take the advice of some friends and weigh myself every day, but then plug the numbers into a program that will give me a 7-day moving average, and thus a true...

We love our Vita-Mix. I bought my first one in '93 when I could barely afford it, and we traded it in for a replacement at a discount when it finally broke down over ten years later. They even sent me a free replacement plunger when I had a "duh" moment and put it in without the top in pla...

Recipe: Spicy Tofu Sauté

The following is adapted from a recipe in Simply Vegan by Debra Wasserman. The original called for a pound of tofu, but I only had a 1/2 pound left, so I substituted celery, green onions, and apple for the rest. This substitution simultaneously reduced the fat content and added texture and flavor to...

This made a great Chick & Noodle Soup! Thanks for posting the recipe; I plan to make this often.

Ooh, the noodle idea sounds great. Thanks to you and the others who commented!

Thanks for letting me know that she was on Oprah - I read about the segment on O's web site. The memory blockout is quite scary; I can't imagine not remembering a single detail of my life before age 13... Anyway, I watched the rest of the first season yesterday. I highly recommend the show to anyone...

This is so typical and so depressing. You know, now that I'm jogging again I started looking into these marathon and half-marathon programs that raise money to combat various diseases. But I can't get over the hypocrisy that changing diet would prevent many of these diseases in the first place. Even...

Ruby

Has anyone seen the TV show Ruby , about the Savannah, Georgia woman who's trying to lose several hundred pounds? I'm watching it now, and just posted the following to my blog. I'm reposting it here as I might get a more sympathetic audience: So I'm sitting here watching a marathon of the nine episo...

For what it's worth. I eat a pure vegetarian diet, but I am not vegan. I wear wool and leather. FWIW, I don't believe everyone who identifies as vegan strictly avoids the use of all animal-derived products. I do try to avoid wearing wool, leather, and even silk myself, but neither my diet nor wardr...

Oh yeah, I had the Barbie dolls. I started with "Malibu" Barbie, Ken, and Skipper; this was probably in the mid-late 70s (I was born in '70). Later I got "Beauty Secrets Barbie" where you pressed a button in her back which moved her arms so she could apply makeup. I also got a Ke...

Favorite McD recipes?

This has probably been done before, but I've been enjoying cooking so much lately that I wanted to post my favorite recipes from the various McDougall books. Maybe if others do the same and some recipes get a lot of "votes", they could be featured in a future newsletter? I'll list my favor...
