Emily's 8 day journal

Postby KSEmily » Mon Aug 23, 2010 12:43 pm

I have decided to follow MWL strictly for 8 days, starting tomorrow for the remainder of August 2010. I started MWL on August 1st at 232 lbs and have been doing well, except I haven't lost quite as much as I would like so I'm going to be very strict for the rest of August and see what happens on the scale. I have been cheating some.

I will be eating mostly brown rice and veggies. I will have oatmeal/banana for breakfast. I have two small children and not a lot of time to cook. I will use my ricemaker and frozen veggies, I use the instant plain oatmeal packets that I can microwave and then put a banana in it and maybe some cinnamon.

This is exciting. I need to get back on track with feeling excited and like I'm doing well. Can't wait to weigh in and post tomorrow which will be day one of this short challenge which I'm hoping is what I need to get over some short term bad habits I've gotten myself into. Hopefully after this first 8 day challenge I will be able to more fully commit.

Emily

Tuesday
Day 1 of challenge

I was feeling like a loser already!!! I said I was going to be 100% compliant BUT I can't give up my coffee and the sad thing is I just started drinking it again:(

I gave up caffeine while pregnant. I used to say that I didn't have an addictive personality, well either that wasn't true or I've aquired one! I get addicted to everything these days. I've been drinking a lot of coffee with french vanilla half and half so this morning I've drank a lot of coffee black, no half and half but I shouldn't be drinking any at all. I couldn't stick with it. that makes me think I'm a loser, an addicted loser.

I am going to start taking an evening walk with the kids. It's cooling off here and won't be as hot.

DW 222.8, pretty sure
weight after coffee and bm 222.0

gonna make some brown rice....tata for now

KSEmily-

Stop beating yourself up for drinking coffee. You left out the 1/2 & 1/2. Coffee isn't not allowed, just not recommended. There are a lot of worse things you could be putting into your mouth. I am going into my 7th week & I am still drinking my coffee in the am. I, too have given it up several times but the last time, I felt so bad, I ended up going totally off McDougalling, & went to McDonald's & got one of those iced coffees along with some french fries.
If you want coffee, drink it. You can give it up at any time. I just drink it in the am, never any other time. Down line, if I want to give it up, but for now, I am still drinking it.

Jan-Thank you, your post made me feel a lot better:)

Day 1 has gone well so far. Food so far:
Oatmeal w/stevia and cinnamon-(out of bananas)
brown rice with canned peas, I was rushed so didn't make frozen veggies
small amount pace salsa
water
coffee

food for thought-when I am doing some healthy things, I feel the need to sabotage myself other ways. Why?

In addition to what I already posted for food on Tuesday, I also had:
half honeydew melon
another serving oatmeal with stevia/cinnamon

a little disappointed that I don't see more weight loss, I'm still not down to my low yet

dw 221.2 which is good for one day then I made the mistake of reweighing 222.2 and again 222.2:(

I'll go with the 221.2:)

I'm hoping being strict will pay off

so far so good. was tempted last night, was hungry and we weren't home and I thought of going to olive garden for minestrone soup and salad but dh said it probably easier to go home, so we did. thank you, dh! and for that the scale was down today:)

I am going to just weigh myself once in the mornings, but i'm not to the point of weighing just once a week yet.

Yesterday's food:
oatmeal stevia/cinnamon
popcorn
tomatoes
lots of brown rice/veggies (broccoli, tomatoes, corn, peas-all frozen except for the tomatoes, they were fresh out of the neighbor's garden)

dw 219.6

Avoiding the restaurant was a really good idea. Even though the salad & Minnestrone soup would be low fat, it would come with the breadsticks & that can be hard to resist, especially when you are already hungry.

Weighing just once a day is a good start. Just step on it once, record your weight. Then you are done. Good job.

Thank you, Jan! Yes, I don't think I could've resisted the breadsticks.

Today is Friday-weigh in day:) I lost a little more today, my goal was 218 and I hit 219 so pretty close. I am happy with 219! The weight is c oming off and that's what's important! My wedding ring has really loosened up. Dentist appt today. Gotta eat before I go to town so I don't get something off plan there.

dw 219.0

Great job, Emily. Congratulations!!

Dont let that scale get you down. Concentrate on eating on plan foods & you will do great.

Have a great weekend.

Sunday:

Saturday was a stressful day and I didn't have food with me, but I came home instead of eating out.

yesterday's food:

lots of hummus (garbanzos, soy sauce, red rooster, salt in one batch)
probably ate like 1.5 cans of garbanzos myself.
oatmeal w/stevia & cinnamon
vegetable soup with lentils (homemade and not very good)
LOTS of cantelope
almost 2 potatoes, baked as fries, no oil

so, I probably ate too much fruit and beans??? But at least I stuck to the plan which is awesome! We even had people over and hubby and company was eating bbq which I went and picked up for them, along with doritos, etc....so I did GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

DW SAT 219.0
today weight up at 220.4 maybe all the fruit late last night? salt?

I even excercised yesterday, went for a walk w/friend

gotta go get kids ready for church, ttfn
