My cooking for next week is done!

And maybe for longer...

Triple batch of sloppy joes - from fatfree.com - it's sloppy joes-6 recipe. It's our long time favorite (at least for ten years now).

Big slowcooker batch of black bean chili (I don't use a recipe, just mix it all up).

Big pan of Easy Spinach Mushroom Lasagna from fatfreevegan.com

Along with potatoes, rice and side veggies, we are all set for at least a week, if not more.

Nomikins, can you please post the link to that sloppy joes recipe? I just did a search and couldn't find it. Thanks.

PS How's the garden this year?

Here is the link to the recipe. I realize, I put the wrong website when I posted originally. It's from fatfree.com.

The garden was/is so-so this year. With DH's mother passing back in June, DH and I have become major caregivers to his dad. Not so much time for gardening this year, as we struggle to adjust to a new routine. However, we did have a good run on tomatoes, and peppers are really producing like mad right now, so it was not for nothing, anyway. Oh, I harvested about seven pie pumpkins over the weekend. So, so-so. Thanks for asking. :)

There are two recipes using TVP in the McDougall Program for Women book. In fact, there's an even simpler recipe for sloppy joes (using TVP) in it. :-)

I think that Dr.McDougall's thinking regarding TVP has evolved since the women's book. Check his newsletters for his current views. Mary has some "tvp" recipes in one or more of her books that is frozen and defrosted tofu that's been crumbled for people who prefer to avoid the more processed forms of soy.

(eta: April 2005 has the doctor's article about isolated soy. The May 2005 reprints Mary's TVP recipe.)

I still use some of the old approved sausages from back then. It's hard when you have favorites stretching that far back.

I bet lentils could work also for the sloppy joe.

Naomi if you are getting a ton of peppers, then maybe make a bunch of stuffed peppers too. I do them in the crock pot.
