Maybe...you have already started it, Cat! I would be happy to follow this discussion and participate.

Here is a verse that can support a believer who is daring to do something different and difficult:

"Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (Philippians 4.6, NRSV)

Hi Pink Rose

Glad to "meet" you.

I was part of a Christian thread on another diet and the support and inspiration were fantastic. Hoping to find that again here.

Thanks for posting!

Hi Cathy! So good to see you on here! Haven't checked in for awhile but looking forward to seeing what happens with this thread. I can only do this through God's help. Thanks for starting it! :-D I'm glad you've found help here and are staying in touch.

So nice to see you again Shirley!

Lisa - As far as I know it is alright. After all, we are all following the McDougall plan. It just helps to have some Christian friends for spiritual support. Thanks for posting!

My favorite Prayer....~ Lord, grant me the Senerity to accept the things I cannot Change...Courage to change the things I can...And the Wisdom to know the Difference

I try to live by these words, and so far, I have had great success...I'm not really religious, but I pray to god, and am Spiritual..I think the thread is a good idea

Bad idea IMO. Why not go to a religious website and start a diet thread there? This forum is appealing and popular because the focus is on good food and how to keep eating it.

How about separate threads for Roman Catholics, Greek Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists, Agnostics, Born-agains, and Those who used to believe but don't any more because of the scandals surrounding homosexual priests and altar boys. Or how about threads for McDougallers of different sexes, races, ages, nationalities, diseases, and eye color? I'm a twin but not a triplet, feeling lonely here but there are sites for multiples to discuss diet, religion, politics and Toyota recalls.

I'm for the status quo, and I'm opposed to splinter groups that would bring divisiveness and a loss of focus to the forum. If you want to pray for help and to encourage other believers to do the same, why not just communicate by PM or emails.

If I see a thread that is just for Democrats or Republicans or members of the Chinese Communist Party I will not be interested in reading or commenting since I am not part of any of these groups but I would not object to people having such threads here if they are somehow related to the main ideas here--promoting health via making good choices. So I wonder why one who does not identify with the disciples of Jesus would object to believers having a single thread for discussing items of common interest to them as they pursue weight management and health.... I particularly would like to know if Dr. McDougall and others who monitor and manage this forum would object to such threads.

Good morning everyone,

Wow! I got up this morning to see if anyone had posted on this thread, and it surprised me to see some of the comments. I certainly was not wanting to cause division, but simply wanted a place where Christians could have some spiritual support. I did not mean to offend anyone.

Potatohead -Welcome, it is nice to meet you

TwinB - First of all, I was just asking if anyone would be interested in starting a Christian thread. As you can see, several people have shown interest. Those who don't want to communicate with Christians, don't have to. It is just a thread. If you don't like it, don't open it. The focus of the thread would be weight loss via the McDougall program

Pinkrose - Thank you for your post.

Thanks,

Cathy

I'd love to see a Christian weight loss thread, or link under General.

Thanks,
