If you're trying to keep your calories low, it would be better to eat it cooked with water than raw.
Oatmeal calories:
Raw - 311/cup, 1742/lb
cooked - 145/cup, 282/ lb.

I got this from fitday.com

Wow, amazing difference there. How do you think this is cooked, in water? I ask because I just made some granola bars that baked the oatmeal. Would the oatmeal lose many calories when baked?

I am not an expert, but remember years ago being told bread did not lose any calories by being toasted. So, if that is true, oats would not lose any by being baked. ????

I think that what happens with oats is the more water you put in them, the more they absorb. I have had this happen with oat groats before and we are always amazed at how they suck up anything around them.

So if you cooked your oats with more water than normal and let them sit for a while, even if you had to reheat them, wouldn't you be getting less calorie density? More weight, less calories?
It IS the food! :unibrow:
