Wow, that's great! I'm hoping to be at goal in another year. I'm 20 pounds from my first goal, but that is way too high! Take care, LauraA

Day 3 of MM with taters, breakfast is sweet potatoes and apple, roasted. My hunger is in check, so this is what I needed to get it under control. I am doing very well. My back is getting better, not as much pain this morning, just pretty stiff. I'll check in tomarrow

Good Sunday to all

Great to have you here Charlie, and most of us are familiar with what happened to you with doing well and then getting off plan, and then getting more off plan! For me, the book or DVD, The Pleasure Trap, was a big help. It discusses certain refined foods as addictions. Anyway, glad that you are joining us. Take care, LauraA

On Plan....

Postby vegan1mimi » Mon Oct 26, 2009 5:20 pm

Hey Yall!! How is everyone doing? I'm doing good. Just get a little frustrated with DH. All the kids think because he is unemployed that he can do all their honeydews...and they feed him lunch. Course that means taking him out to a sandwich shop or mostly a burger joint  he ends up eating the wrong things and that has forced his bp up. Then I get angry at him. I need to learn to chill. Which is not what I do well at all. Anyway I'm keepin with the program in spite of our chanllenges around here.

Hello, all.

After a bad few days of feeling sorry for myself and eating everything in site, I decided to take myself in hand. The first and most positive thing I did was to admit to my husband what was going on. I have been lost in the depths of compulsive eating. It has been so long since I have done this that I don't think he realized why the food was disappearing. Anyhow, it really made a difference and is a relief. In order to "cleanse" myself, I am doing more of a Fuhrman program for the moment --- more veggies than anything else. I figure once I can get a week under my belt, it will be easy to transition to MWL. Hope everyone is well.

I find that I am eating a LOT of root veggies: potatoes, turnips (in soup), squash, etc. It seems to be what I crave right now. is that okay? I think I am still losing, but not as much as in the beginning, but that's to be expected. A salad and lettuce just doesn't do it for me right now.

Mommylut, doesn't it feel good to take a deep breath and confide in someone? I bet he already knew it, but didn't want to confront you. Now that you have admitted it, can you think of why? Why the compulsive eating? Did something trigger it? the time of year? Bored? Maybe it was just falling back into old habits. For me, the old habits are so hard to break ,even when the new ones make us feel so much better. Good luck, and let us know how you are doing. WE CARE!!!

Amy :)

Mommylut, it's good to be honest with ourselves and to talk it over with the those closest to ourselves. It's progress. :-)

Charlie - glad you joined the thread. I've done the same. I swear if I let my guard down a little, I am quickly rolling down the hill.

Amy - Wanted to say that is the best fortune I've ever read.

Sorry catching up from the weekend and all.

forgot to weigh in last week but i'm holding still at 216. went to Atlantic City over the weekend and indulged in a cheating-fest at a buffet. There i noticed a slender Japanese lady who had nothing on her plate but broccoli, 2 corn on the cob, a small amount of rice and a side dish of grapes. she put me to shame as i ate my crab-cakes. at least now i know that it is possible to McDougall at such places.

I go to Atlantic City every few months. To which buffet did you go?

One of the buffets I used to love is at Showboat. (Haven't been down that end in awhile.) I took mostly salad and, since I know I'm going there ahead of time, I make lemon-tahini dressing to take with me. I take one plain baked tater and a yam. Once in awhile I do get some of the steamed rice at the Asian stall. I just put on a little hot mustard and mix in some duck sauce with it. I never look at the dessert bar! Once my friend and I asked if there was any plain pizza. They said no, but they'd make us one which we had without cheese and they added lots of veggies. They guaranteed us that the crust and sauce had no animal ingredients.
Happy McDougalling!

I've been to Atlantic City a couple of time. Other casino places as well. It always annoys me that I pay my 20 bucks (or whatever) for the buffet and eat my salad and veggies, but there are people there who heap plate after plate with lobster and shrimp and crab. I wish I could get a "vegetarian wristband" or something. If I promise not to eat any seafood, can I pay half price? I have no problem paying for my food, but the buffets are so expensive because people gorge themselves on the priciest items.

Anyway.

I went to lunch at Wendy's today. I ate there and stayed for about 40 minutes. I couldn't how many people came and went while I was sitting there. Most people sat down and ate in less than 15 minutes. Closer to 10. The greasy burgers and fries slide down in just a few bites, and soda washes down the leftover bits. Ick! I had to take my time and chew my potato and salad. Another plus for this way of eating...you can't wolf it down!
