CNN news

Postby mike at the river » Sat Jul 14, 2012 10:27 am

I was watching CNN news this morning, Sat., 7/14/12, and they had over 5 minutes devoted to an "expert" author, named McDonald, talk on plant-based nutrition. But almost everything he said was wrong, per Dr McDougall, Barnard, Esselstyn, Campbell, etc. Repeatedly said most grains were incomplete protein, pushed hemp seeds, soy, Boca burgers to make a complete protein. Don't these shows ever do any research or have real experts and organizations contact them? ....Mike

Na! I doubt there are many (if any) in the media that knows anything about research. They are however very good and repeating each other and telling the public what a great job they do in explaining things to the public.

Well, they're approaching it from a journalistic standpoint, not necessarily a documentarian standpoint. They probably are treating it like politics where you have a bunch of people in one camp and more in another. It's frustrating to watch but it's all about debate these days.

This guy was Mark Macdonald - he sells weight loss shakes, supplements and exercise - basically his appearance was a commercial whether or not it was labelled as such

I'm gonna say he's a deceptive and simplistic network marketing nudnick. He has a CNN segment in which he says that when a US volleyball team went on a vegetarian diet, "most likely, they might have just cut all of the protein out, and who knows whether there was a balance." Which is complete nonsense. Cut all the protein out, did they? Wow. What was their diet, nectarines and table sugar?
