I've been doing a modified version of MWL for going on 3 weeks now and the gas is just overwhelming! My husband and I even sleep in separate rooms some nights because of this. Also, I've cut back on beans, but the all the veggies I'm eating are culprits, too.

PLEASEEEEEEEEE tell me there is an end in sight??? I just detest the rumbling stomach and the eventual gaseousness that is never ending.

Any suggestions?

TIA....

Give it a bit, it will pass...mostly. It gets much better though, I promise!

Get some beano. Follow the directions in it. It works when used properly.

Chew thoroughly before swallowing. Thoroughly as in you can't chew it any longer..thoroughly dissolved. IT's the bigger pieces that don't get chewed totally that cause more gas. This can happen when eating in a hurry.

Some say not to drink any liquid while eating, but some say to drink water with your fiber. It helps it all go through more smoothly and hopefully out faster.

Now if the gas still doesn't go away,,,it can come in handy when trying to repel someone like solicitors at your door. ;)
I find that if a smoker sits down by me in a casino, if their smoke blows my way..guess what blows their way? ;) :D

Love the beano idea, but only the liquid works for me - had to buy it online since I couldn't find it anywhere else where I live - it works far better than the tablets and is much more ecnomical.

I'm not well versed on all the guidelines for MWL, so excuse me if I suggest something contrary to them....... I find lentils to be less gas inducing than beans. It also matters which variety of beans I eat. For example, chickpeas are tops for me on the gas scale, followed by black beans. I simply cannot eat chickpeas more than two days in a row, or my abdomen feels and looks like it will explode. The white beans seem to generate less gas. Anasazi beans, if you can find them, are the best in that regard. Also dangerous for me is to eat cabbage and chickpeas in the same meal. Pepe Le Pew! In Indian cuisine turmeric is often as an antiflatulent ingredient, in addition to its many other properties. So, if you're making a dal that includes turmeric, you've got a built in assist there. Ditto with an unusual ingredient, asofetida (which has numerous spellings). Oh, and supposedly soaking them well, rinsing and cooking with fresh water helps as well.

Blending your veggies and beans helps to, especially cabbage! I notice much less gas when I make hummus and other bean dips. Green peas don't seem to give me gas problems at all. You may want to increase your consumption of peas vs. beans until your system adjusts.

I thinkit is caused by a change in intestinal flora.Once your bowel bacteria change it usually sorts itself out. I think Jeff has a sticky on this problem in his thread.
