What other books to read?

Postby Quiver0f10 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 8:22 am

Other than Dr. McDougall's books, what are some good ones to read? Thanks!

Caldwell Esselstyn -- Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. Lots of good recipes there.

Neal Barnard -- Reversing Diabetes (something like that, not sure of exact title). Recipes here too, although I don't think I've tried any.

Neal Barnard -- Breaking the Food Seduction. This also has good recipes.

by Dr. T. Colin Campbell. A life-changing experience. Should be required reading for everyone.

The Food Revolution by John Robbins ... one of my favourite books - highly informative, yet a very easy read. Robbins is impeccable in listing sources for everything.

Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser ... an eye-opener.

I second The China Study. I'm re-reading that one right now actually.

I also like others already mentioned, and Ruth Heidrich's books, particularly Senior Fitness. It's clear, easy reading and very informative.

I fourth The China Study...I'm reading for the 3rd time right now. I'm buying another copy that I can lend out to people. I tend to lose books when I lend them out and I don't want to lose this one!!!

The China Study is great. I also second The Food Revolution.

I should probably read the China Study again.

Do any of these books have a plot? I like books with a plot.

The China Study! It struck me like a lightening bolt and I changed overnight. It's also had that affect on many other people I know.

I was buying a copy for my brother at a bookstore. The clerk, just a random person who I didn't know, looked at me and said "this book is life changing".

Also No More Bull and The Mad Cowboy by Howard Lyman are really good. Read those and you will never look at meat, milk or dairy the same way. He knows because he lived it and now is on the other side.

Sorry that this post is repetitive and doesn't offer new information. The China Study would be my No. 1 suggestion. Second would be The Pleasure Trap and third Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. I found them all complementary.

It was exactly 2 years ago today that I read The China Study and changed my diet forever. I haven't looked back, either.

Happy Anniversary to me!!! :)

I love this question because I definitely have my top 4 books for really living your best life all around.

For diet "The China Study"-it's the why and "Maximum Weight Loss" is the how. It is not possible to exaggerate the wonders of The China Study. The book is just simply extraordinary.

For finance "Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey. Live a debt free life.

For all around peace- "A New Earth".
