The Ultimate Guide To Free Calorie Density Resources
Jeff Novick, MS, RDN

"Calorie density is the simplest approach to healthful eating and lifelong weight management. This common sense approach to sound nutrition allows for lifelong weight management without hunger; more food for fewer calories, and is easy to understand and follow. As such, I have put together the *Ultimate* resource guide of the best FREE information on calorie density on the internet."

Some other excellent resources on the principles of calorie density that are based on my work, from around the web for free.

1) The Healthy Librarian

Here is an excellent graphic & review of my calorie density presentation at the first Plant-Stock in upstate NY back in August 2012 from "The Healthy Librarian."

As she says,

"If You Stick to Primarily Eating the Foods Above the Red Line You'll Be Full, Healthy, & Not Overweight"

2) UC Davis Integrative Medicine Program

The UC Davis Integrative Medicine Program and I worked together in 2013 and made this great full color chart, which you can download for free here...

They made it into a refrigerator magnet and it is being used by several clinics around the country.

3) An Overview Chart from Judi Carreon who attended The March 2012 Group!!

Here is another great overview chart of several of my resources. As Judi said,

"All Jeff Novick's brain matter on one easy to reference page!"

3) Caroline Graettinger - The Garden Dish

Here is another article featuring a few more great charts that are made by one of our own board members, Caroline Graettinger, who runs the Garden Dish. The numbers are based on some charts I had made in one of my articles, The Percentage of Protein in Plant Foods. As Caroline said....

Thank you so much for your work. You are constantly arming us in the field with useful information to help our customers and clients.

4) Jane Birch - The Word of Wisdom

Here is a free Slide Show presentation on Calorie Density. Those familiar with my Calorie Density DVD will notice that this is very similar to and based on the one I have done for many years.

About a year ago she wrote me and said...

"I’m a HUGE fan of yours!! I have all your wonderful DVDs and read your advice constantly (and share it with others). You are totally awesome, and I highly respect your expertise."

The slide show presentation is available for free here...

There is a transcript below the slide show.

She also recently wrote this excellent article on Calorie Density

Re: The Ultimate Guide To Free Calorie Density (MWL) Resourc

Thanks Jeff. I have shared this far and wide. LOL Its tiring seeing this info that you and Dr. M have been freely sharing for decades now being recycled and complicated for profit by so called clone diets run by people who really have no expertise other than some trial and error. The way I see it, once the rest of my weight is gone, I *will* be an even BIGGER expert than all you professionals put together if I follow current trends.

Im pretty loud about it too....I see some losing weight on a few rather well known clone diets, paying huge amounts of dollars for, claiming success by losing 10 pounds or so in a months time....same amount of weight had they just followed the MWL or basic Starch Solution for the same time period from the beginning. I know it sounds snarky, but do you feel that some people need to pay good money for recycled info and be told exactly what not to eat and what to eat in combos more effective than just doing what works for thousands already?

Thanks!

I'll respond to your question soon but in the meantime I thought you would find this relevant to your post. Somehow, it seems that if they do it under the heading vegan or WFPB we give them a(n undeserving) free pass.

Green is the new black: the unstoppable rise of the healthy-eating guru
Hadley Freeman
The Guardian

They’re young, photogenic, big on Instagram and top bestseller lists around the world – but how much do the new breed of wellness bloggers know about food? Hadley Freeman enters the world of yummy avotoast to find out

"There is no denying that how we eat is important, and the rise of nutritionists is testament to public awareness of that, even if a large part of their appeal is the whispered promise of thinness. And a lot of what these bloggers advocate – less sugar, more vegetables – is perfectly sensible. But it is often served up with a hefty side dish of misinformation and encouragement of food phobias."
