1. Find the web image address of the image you're trying to show.
- This turns out to be a little bit tricky sometimes. It needs to be a static image url (whatever that actually means). In practice, if you can right-click an image and there's an option something like "copy image address", it should work... (?) The image address should usually end in .jpg or some similar format like that.

2. Paste the image url address.

3. Select the address.

4. Press Img

From this page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_panda

The result of that process should look like
Code: Select all

That's not a link to an image but a page of search results. The "htm" in the link is your clue. A graphic's url will have something like jpg, gif, png, or a few others.

If you want an image from that page, choose it, right-click and grab the image url. For instance, here's one from the top row of that page. I'm leaving a space between the http and the colon so it's a broken link just so you see the link:

http: //us.cdn4.123rf.com/168nwm/yuran-78/yuran-781201/yuran-78120100006/11915746-fun-couple-in-jump-on-the-outdoor-background.jpg

To make the graphic appear in the message, take that link and paste it into the message window, highlight it, then click the Img button above. Now you can see the image file.

Okay, it works.

1) Right click the image
2) In the pop-up box click Copy Image URL about half way down the list
3) Go to this forum (signed in) and hit Post Reply
4) Ctrl + V on the keyboard (Windows) to paste the URL you copied to the clipboard into your message.
5) Then take your mouse or otherwise highlight all the text you just copied with the URL
6) While it is still highlighted click the IMG tab at the top of your message
7) Hit Submit

What program are you using to send the email?

Most have a button/link/command to embed an image. Look where it says something like Insert or Attach.

But what program are you using to send email - Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.?

If it's an on-line mail site instead of on your computer, which place - Yahoo Mail, GoogleMail, etc.?

I don't have this on my computer, but my husband's work laptop does and I know he inserts graphics all the time so I'll ask him how he does it. I know a lot of what he does is just copy and paste but I've seen him grab a file to insert, too.

I also have Charter as an email that I haven't used in a while. It's hard to email on Charter....my cable co.

I never use those on-line mail places. I have accounts on Yahoo, Gmail and our ISP but have them all set to go through to my Thunderbird program. I only go on-line to their sites if things are missing and usually discover they got marked as spam at that level so I have to go unmark them and make a filter to have mail from those addresses sent to the inbox instead. Computers love to frustrate people! LOL

OK, I had my husband show me on his laptop how he does it in Outlook and it's as I expected - open to write a new email and click the link near the upper left that says Insert, and a toolbar opens. One of the options listed in the toolbar is to insert an image. Click that and you have the choice of using the url of an image you see online or one from your computer.

This web site gives instructions with photos:

LOL I've been playing around with computers since 1992, the old Windows 3.1 and DOS 5 days, and I'm still learning new things, and sometimes need it hammered into my head a few times before I "get" it. That's been happening the past few days with my Kindle. My son showed me 3 times how to do something and I still can't remember how he did it, so I'll be knocking on his door soon, hat in hand, asking him to show me one more time.
