Jeff, Coconut Oil?

Postby BenFTW » Sun May 29, 2011 4:44 pm

I have read things on the benefits of coconut oil and also your articles on comparing it with sugar and how it is just like every other refined oil. Like olive oil that people put on salads. And how it is a calorie bomb. (some article on your site from 1995 or 1998)

However, calorie density put in play or how unhealthy it is in the process of losing weight, is it okay to use such oil for benefit in your skin? People use coconut oil and talk of the benefits it has on their hair, and skin. So is it to say, that regardless of it not being a healthy food, can it be for good use on the body, for skin or hair?

People say that your skin is like your third organ and what you put on it goes into your body, well, would that mean that it is unhealthy even if placed on your skin rather than consuming it? You know, the fat you eat is the fat you wear, would applying it to your skin... make you fat? lol If thats a stupid question, sorry, just some thoughts I had.

All in all, aiming to be healthy and losing weight, would applying coconut oil be a good or a bad thing?

Thank you for taking the time to do what you do on these forums.
