Gout & Deep Vein Thrombosis 2 different people.

Postby C.Ben » Mon Nov 01, 2010 3:31 pm

I have 2 friends that have asked me about Veganism and their diseases. One has deep vein thrombosis and is in hospital right now being treated for clots in the lung and leg. The leg clot is particularly painful. They are giving him Cumin to thin his blood. My other friend has gout. He has seen my health improve after I went on a vegan diet but says he is not allowed to eat beans, tomatos and many other vegetables. I have not found much on either subject. What do you think? ;)

Are they giving him cumin or Coumadin? I know Coumadin is used a lot for DVT's and other things where the blood needs to be thinned...never heard of using cumin!

Coumadin. My bad. What are the implications of a vegan diet on either of these diseases. There are no references in The China Study or anywhere elese I have looked.

Why is your friend not allowed to eat beans, tomatoes, etc?

Diets for gout usually avoid high purine foods http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/gout-diet/MY01137
People can follow MCD program w/out beans & tomatoes if they like...See Burgess Laughlin under Star McDougallers.
Where are you in S FL? Forks over Knives is screening in Delray Nov 6, at Hagen Ranch rd branch of PBC library!
Best wishes,Cat

The medical problems I had included gout symptoms:
http://anti-itisdiet.blogspot.com/2007/ ... ation.html

My solution to almost all of my medical problems, including the gout and arthritis, was to adopt a diet that is non-acid producing:
http://anti-itisdiet.blogspot.com/2007/ ... ution.html

The site, http://anti-itisdiet.blogspot.com, should answer all questions if read thoroughly. If you have read it thoroughly, and you still have questions, then please do ask, preferably on that site, where answers can be collected for future readers.

I make no claim that the solutions that worked for me will work for anyone else.
