I'm finding more and more articles on the connection between GERD, SIBO and other GI problems consequent to grazing and snacking. The specific mechanism in these articles is the MMC. It causes food to move through the small intestine It takes 2-3 hours to complete. Grazing, snacking interrupt this function, leading to various problems. In the Maximum Weight Loss book, Dr. McDougall recommends eating 6 or more meals a day plus snacking--essentially non stop eating. How can this be good for people in light of what is known about the Migrating Motor Complex?
