High Cholesterol due to high HDL?

Postby slugmom » Sun Aug 23, 2020 6:45 pm

Greetings,

I've recently had some routine lab work and was surprised to see my total cholesterol over 200

When I look at the numbers, it appears to be the HDL that is the culprit:

Total: 210 (high)
LDL: 89
HDL: 104
Non-HDL: 106
Chol/HDL ratio: 2.0
Triglycerides: 79

What causes this?
Is there any reason for me to be concerned?

Thank you!
- Kim

Interesting that the following is talking about a very similar case:

I think it is not a bad idea to get this looked at in detail.

If this is significantly different from previous results, the first thing I'd do is have it repeated.
