Certain medications like antipsychotics that make you gain w

Postby Andrew Awen » Sat Oct 13, 2018 4:49 am

Hi I downloaded the McDougall app and have been using recipes out it for a week and a half. I am looking to lose as much weight as possible , I didn't have any issues with my weight until I was required to take an antipsychotic medication . I believe it changes the way you process carbs so I was wondering if there was any specialised advice or anyone who has had a similar problem with medication that makes them gain weight . It's not an option to stop taking the medication as it keeps me well but I really want to lose some weight .

You will probably get some good advice here, but mine is to just get yourself on MWL and stay there. Your weight loss may be slow or fast, but while you're losing weight, you're also protecting your heart, lungs, and brain from the damage of harmful foods.

Basic principles of calorie density should give you what you need. Small change in overall calories density of your meals, a little less starch (not a lot less, just a little) and a little more veg to fill you up, and you should be able to control weight without feeling deprived. Jeff Novick goes into some detail in the lectures linked below.
