You can do a search PCOS in the box top right and many comments will pop up. A good place to look is under the education tab (top left in green bar) Health and Science/Common Health Problems/hormone dependent diseases. This diet is the healthiest diet on the planet, don't wait. The body is destroyed by the American high fat, high protein animal diet.

Trying this way of eating, following Dr. McDougall's guidelines, can't do any harm. I hope she will give it a try.

I suffered from PCOS from age 13 through menopause, and wish so much that I had known the role of diet and lifestyle in this terrible disease. I am 74 now, and until I was in my 50's I never met a doctor who knew much about PCOS, and if they did the available treatments were either just plain useless or useless and also created side effects.

I only learned about this after menopause, but no woman should have to wait that long for relief!

I don't think conventional medical treatment has advanced much since then, but there seems to be good evidence for this type of diet being beneficial.

P.S. One of the classic symptoms is unexplained weight gain, and if that's the case a starch-based diet is very likely to be helpful. Not to mention all the other general health benefits.

Best wishes for your friend to regains her health!
