Trying this way of eating, following Dr. McDougall's guidelines, can't do any harm. I hope she will give it a try.
I suffered from PCOS from age 13 through menopause, and wish so much that I had known the role of diet and lifestyle in this terrible disease. I am 74 now, and until I was in my 50's I never met a doctor who knew much about PCOS, and if they did the available treatments were either just plain useless or useless and also created side effects.
I only learned about this after menopause, but no woman should have to wait that long for relief!
I don't think conventional medical treatment has advanced much since then, but there seems to be good evidence for this type of diet being beneficial.

Best wishes for your friend to regains her health!
