Sunday, August 25th, and the summer is winding down. My grandson spent the night. I made him pancakes for breakfast (no syrup) because I can add flax seed and hemp hearts to them and he doesn't notice! Applesauce on the side. I didn't eat them! Don't want them either. I love this month of committing to MWL guidelines because it is behavior modification boot camp. I will continue into September.

Breakfast for me today will be veggie chili with brown rice and steamed broccoli. I need to cook/batch prep other foods today. So I will have a burrito bowl later today. And I have a salad/raw veggies to eat. The last of the watermelon and delicious cantaloupe will be eaten today.

Journalling works for accountability and setting my intention for the day. I have a couple of errands this morning which are annoying but I won't let them distract me from eating MWL way. I did have a bobble yesterday with some coffee cake, but back on it today. Last night's dinner was simple and so satisfying! I had a bowl of rice with corn, peas and a few black beans. Filling too. I am realizing that I can eat MWL all the time, lose weight and not be hungry! Today is food prep day. Keep on truckin'!

Yesterday was interesting. For dinner, I made my version of a burrito bowl: brown rice, black beans, corn, 1 potato I needed to eat, some salsa, steamed carrots, lettuce. Very filling and tasty.
Today is my last day of errands. I have restructured my calendar so all mornings are now MINE - no errands or appointments. I badly want the time to focus on food, diet, exercise and my painting. If I don't do these things in the morning when my energy is highest, they don't happen. I am also going to try to 'batch' errands to 1 or 2 days, again to save the time and distractions. Looking for way to simplify my life. I say this as today I drive to the far side of my city for a hair cut!! :D Will be my last trip like this.
Anyway, I have food prepped for the day for more of my 'burrito bowl', plus finish the veggie chili. I need to buy more watermelon and peaches to enjoy as summer is winding down!
Have a great day.

MWL weigh-in is tomorrow and I am EXPECTING to crack the 193#. Scale today shows 195. I have been eating to the guidelines but did have lunch with a friend yesterday at our favorite Asian fusion place. I had my favorite yakisoba noodles with veggies which include a lot of cabbage, broccoli, edamame, and some kind of a little sweet peanut sauce. I am sure this is why I am up a pound. Sodium really hits me.

So, back to only beans, rice and veggies today. I really like steamed carrots which is good because I have a wilting bag of them that need to be eaten. My fruit today will be apples. Dinner likely will be oatmeal with ground flax seed and hemp hearts, with soy milk.

Our beautiful NW summer weather is great for walking and being outside. So I shall start my day with a walk.

Today I weighed in on the August MWL page at 193.4. Yay! was 194.2 last week. I really doubled down the last couple of days after eating lunch out with a friend. The sodium in foods gives me at least a 1# gain. I know it's water weight and will drop in a day or two.

I am enjoying burrito bowls with lots of black beans, tomatoes, corn, lettuce, salsa. Today I'll find a zucchini or yellow squash and cut that up to add to it. I also added 1 yukon gold potato. Very filling! Oatmeal with blueberries, flax seed and hemp hearts for lunch. I need to make more veggie chili. Also steamed spinach and broccoli for snacks. Fruit will be the old apple that has to be eaten! And berries.

I like eating the same foods over and over - predictable, easy, less work for me.

Gosh, summer is winding down. Hate to lose the sun.

Friday August 30, 2019.
Summer, don't go!!! I live in the NW where our winters are rainy and gray. I am solar powered for energy so it is challenging. Today I will walk again, to get outside and get some rays!

I lost some weight last week. This morning the scales showed 191.3. Whhaaattt???!! moved them twice and same #. Gosh, eating lots of veggies works. Now to stay on course for next week's weigh-in. If this keeps up, I will have to reevaluate my goal weight I committed for August to see if I could do MWL. Now I see this is very do-able and successful.

Today is clean the house and cook some food. I am thinking veggie burgers which I love (the NYTimes recipe plus I will add a bit of tomato paste to them). Probably the corn-black bean soup from the MWL site. Lunch will be oatmeal with flax seed & hemp hearts, blueberries and soy milk. I have been pleased with a simple meal of beans, corn, chopped tomatoes, a potato and salsa, and chopped lettuce.

Keep it simple.

Ready to start September MWL program. Success is a big motivator! This last week has shown me how to lose weight. Today I am putting veggie chili in the crock pot while I run to the pool for some gentle swimming. My low back/hips/hip flexors are tight, stretching isn't giving me enough relief. as rainy fall/winter sets in, I am going to try some Pilates and maybe yoga.
