Day 9

Postby Idgie » Sat Oct 27, 2018 8:28 am

Plan for today:
B: savory oats
L: bean tacos (no oil -- we have some corn tortillas to use up)
S: soup/veggies
D: partner's enchiladas

Actual:
B:
L:
S: brown rice & kimchi & seaweed
S2: a little taro
D: borscht
S: potato and taro salad with mango salsa and mango chipotle vinaigrette

Happy to have hit 50 pounds lost in just about 20 weeks. It's certainly a motivator to keep doing what I'm doing. Heading out to the farmer's market after we go to the dentist. Since it's finally feeling like autumn, I'm hoping for some good winter squashes, but we'll see. Have a great day, friends!

Day 9 wrap-up

Postby Idgie » Sun Oct 28, 2018 9:24 am

Day 9 was a good day. Adding $9 to my reward fund brings it to $65, and compliance is getting easier as it dawns on my hindbrain that I really meant it this time, and eating junk is not an option.

Symptoms: Stiff back.

Meds: reduced thyroid pill (now taking 225mcg 6 times a week, instead of 250); reduced beta-blocker (down from 100 mg a day to 50 a day); antibiotics for infection; no glucose, caffeine, ibuprofen, aspirin, or probiotics

Things I did to support myself yesterday:
* spent a lot of chill time with my partner
* ate a little more than usual (all compliant foods)
* read my book and relaxed

Food prep: boiled a bunch of taro

Exercise: none

Plan for today:
B: savory oats and an apple
L: soup with sweet-potato noodles
S: soup/veggies
D: partner's enchiladas

Day 10 wrap-up

Postby Idgie » Sun Oct 28, 2018 8:58 pm

Thanks, Lindsey!

Not a bad day. There's some family stress, but nothing earth-shattering.

Added $10 to my reward fund; it's now at $75. Not even tempted to eat anything off-plan today, partly because the fridge is stuffed with on-plan foods, so there's no "I had to eat that because that's all there is!" nonsense going on.

Symptoms: My hips got a little sore while I was sitting in the car waiting for the kid to come out of the store, but it went away.

Meds: reduced thyroid pill (now taking 225mcg 6 times a week, instead of 250); reduced beta-blocker (down from 100 mg a day to 50 a day); antibiotics for infection; no glucose, caffeine, ibuprofen, aspirin, or probiotics

Things I did to support myself today:
* didn't buy junk to feed the kid when she came over
* didn't go into the food store with her because we don't need food and I don't need to be tempted to buy Aldi snacks
* went to the gym even though my partner kinda wanted me to stay home and hang out

Food prep: partner made the stuff for enchiladas, so I'll take some of those to work tomorrow. There's also a ton of other food in the fridge

Exercise: 50 minutes of pretty vigorous stationary cycling

Plan for tomorrow:
B: savory oats or potato waffle and an apple
L: enchiladas
S: sweet potato or taro and slaw
D: sweet potato or taro and slaw

Day 11 wrap-up

Postby Idgie » Mon Oct 29, 2018 9:16 pm

Not a bad day today. I didn't get to the gym, but will try to get there in the morning. The food is getting easier. I'm mostly likely to want to eat off-plan when I'm really hungry, so I try not to ever get really hungry.

Added $11 to my reward fund; it's now at $86.

Symptoms: Joint pain and headache, both mild, both possibly due to a sudden change to damp weather.

Meds: reduced thyroid pill (now taking 225mcg 6 times a week, instead of 250); reduced beta-blocker (down from 100 mg a day to 50 a day); antibiotics for infection; no glucose, caffeine, ibuprofen, aspirin, or probiotics. Today was the last day of my antibiotics.

Things I did to support myself today:
* cooked dinner instead of buying payday takeout
* did the work mail run

Food prep: none, but there is SO MUCH FOOD in the fridge

Exercise: 16-minute mail run

Plan for tomorrow:
B: savory oats and an apple
L: enchilada soup
S: taro and slaw
D: taro and slaw

Taro...where do you get it? You can get them in chip form  along with sweet potato, beet, and parsnip...Terra Chips my kryptonite.

but I've never seen Taro root in any produce department I've been in. And do you cook it like potatoes?

Good going, reducing your meds! the miracles of this way of eating. Well done!

Day 12

Postby Idgie » Tue Oct 30, 2018 9:17 am

Hi, buns! I buy taro in my local Asian grocery store. I do cook it like potatoes. Comes out drier than potatoes, but I do like the taste. I tried roasting it once, but it came out like rocks, so now I boil or steam it.

Plan for today:
B: savory oats and an apple
L: enchilada soup
S: taro and slaw
D: taro and slaw

Actual:
B: savory oats and bell pepper strips
S: strawberries (frozen/thawed)
L:
S: taro and bbq sauce; Dr. McD soup cup
D: w/w pasta with eggplant/mushroom/tomato sauce, pickled daikon

Day 12 wrap-up

Postby Idgie » Tue Oct 30, 2018 9:09 pm

Thanks, choufleur! It's getting easier as I strengthen my resistence to junk, with the help of these boards and the Beck book.

Added $12 to my reward fund; it's now at $98. I'm going to start over at $1 tomorrow, or I'll quickly price myself out of my rewards.

Symptoms: mild stiffness

Meds: just the reduced amounts of thyroid and beta-blocker

Things I did to support myself today:
* cooked dinner instead of buying payday takeout
* did the work mail run

Food prep: none, but there is SO MUCH FOOD in the fridge

Exercise: 16-minute mail run

Plan for tomorrow:
B: savory oats and an apple

S: taro and bbq sauce
D: taro and eggplant/tomato/mushroom sauce

Day 13 wrap-up

Postby Idgie » Wed Oct 31, 2018 9:16 pm

Added $1 to my reward fund (reset the dollars not because I went off-plan, but because I need to not price myself out of my rewards). Bought this dress with $64.99 of it:

Image

Symptoms: pains in my right big toe. No idea why.

Meds: just the reduced amounts of thyroid and beta-blocker

Things I did to support myself today:
* made a potluck dish I could eat
* packed a regular lunch and ate that elsewhere instead of sitting in the potluck room
* ate zero candy and zero nachos or other potluck foods
* asked my partner to not watch "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" while I'm around

Food prep: none

Exercise: none

Plan for tomorrow:
B: savory oats and an apple
L: w/w pasta salad; kimchi slaw
S: w/w pasta salad; kimchi slaw
D: w/w pasta salad; kimchi slaw
