Hi Idgie,
I just wanted to comment on your willpower at the hospital regarding stress eating. Congrats! That is a big key for me too. I can do so much damage in a short period of time when I decide to eat while stressed. Last night I ate air-popped popcorn while having the nervous needing-to-eat thing going on. Also, your partner sounds special. My husband doesn't try to cook for me but he is very supportive. We've moved so much non-compliant food out of our kitchen. I'm not quite sure where he keeps it all... I know he has cookies somewhere because late at night he's munching them while watching TV but I would never go looking for them or ask him where they are. Cheers to supportive partners!!

Not gonna count today as MWL day, but food went well, and I got some exercise in, so it's a win.

For day 6 of the Beck read-through, we had to choose a diet coach. Y'all (along with my partner and my SparkPeople friends) are basically my diet coach.

No MWL reward today. Reward total is at $13.

Symptoms today: Lower backache.

Drugs today: Regular dose of thyroid (250 mcg 6 days a week). 50 metoprolol morning and evening. No caffeine. No aspirin.

Clearly my Achilles heel is being out shopping without anything to eat in my purse. I need to start taking something with me (I have glucose tablets, but I try to save them for genuine low-blood-sugar episodes. Got hangry at the store with mom, so I bought some rice crackers. They're McD-friendly, but not MWL.

Right now, there's a lentil-rice loaf in the oven. If it's good, I'll post the recipe. On the counter, I'm marinating eggplant and other veggies in a mix of coconut aminos, light soy sauce, grated ginger/garlic, maple syrup, and Szechuan peppercorns. Gonna roast it and serve it like stir-fry -- less work than oil-free stir-frying, but I'll let you know how that goes.

The lentil/rice loaf is okay, but not great. I'm gonna work on it before I share it here. Definitely need to work on getting it more cohesive without processing stuff too much.

I don't have to do it all at once. I made the small decision to eat healthy food when my original breakfast fell on the floor. I made the small decision to go exercise a few more minutes so I would beat yesterday's total. I made the small decision to say no to the boss's offer of candy.

All this stuff adds up.

It was a good day.

MWL reward today. Reward total is at $14.

Symptoms today: Lower backache, slight ankle trouble, weird neck-vein pain like the other day.

Drugs today: Regular dose of thyroid (250 mcg 6 days a week). 50 metoprolol morning and evening. No caffeine. No aspirin.

Yay Idgie, you're doing awesome! You're so right that the little stuff adds up and we have to give ourselves credit for those things too.

I missed some of your posts from a few days ago, so I just read about your partner trying to make more compliant foods - how wonderful! I really wish mine would come around, or at least we could get to the point of sitting at the table and eating together, but we haven't gotten there (yet?).

I hope today is another good day.

Thanks, everyone!

I took the evening off from dieting and had non-McD snack/dinner, but I made sure not to overeat, and I don't feel too bad, but I think I might have a salt headache in the morning. We'll see.

No MWL reward today. Reward total is at $14.

Symptoms today: Lower backache, sore hip, but not bad, bit of a headache.

Drugs today: Regular dose of thyroid (250 mcg 6 days a week). 50 metoprolol morning and evening. No caffeine. No aspirin.

From my SparkPeople journal:

Today was stressful for my partner (broken pipe and partner had to interview plumbers and get estimates all day), so I made the decision to get off-plan takeout, but I decided before ordering that I would eat it slowly, mindfully, and intuitively, and not overeat it. It worked! There were a couple items I didn't love, so I just stopped eating them and stuck with the really good stuff, without stuffing myself. I am so happy I didn't just go whole hog, as it were.

Much better food day today, and I took 10 seconds off my mail run time. I've now gotten it down from 15 minutes to 14:20. No idea how long a distance it is, but there is quite a hill and quite a few stairs, so I am proud of myself for the effort.

Moderately high pain today. Normal meds (no aspirin or caffeine). Feeling kind of irritable -- might be work-related, might be hormonal; we'll see. But I didn't stress-eat.

$1 MWL reward; total is $15.

My back has been aching a bit for a while, and today it went out. I can barely walk. I'm icing it, taking it as easy as I can, and doing some walking to help the muscles. I am going to join the local Y so I can start swimming to help with it, as well.

This weekend, I'm going to get my 6-month bloodwork done, so I'm putting my last results here for comparison. This is another motivation to eat really well, to be honest.

4/21/18
TSH: 1.89
CHOLESTEROL 161 mg/dL
TRIGLYCERIDE 184 mg/dL
HDL 41 mg/dL
LDL CALCULATED 83 mg/dL
CHOLESTEROL/HIGH DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN 3.9
CHOLESTEROL, NON-HDL 120 mg/dL
HGBA1C% 5.6 %

2nd day in a row of MWL gets me $2. Total is $17.

Symptoms today: Bad backache.

Drugs today: Regular dose of thyroid (250 mcg 6 days a week). 50 metoprolol morning and evening. Cup of caffeinated tea. 1 regular (325 mg) aspirin for my back soreness.

sorry to hear about your back! Hopefully your swimming will help with it. I'm sure anything you can do to strengthen your core will be good.

I joined the Y today! I am excited/nervous/happy/proud! Our Y has a thing called "Kickstart," which is 3 free sessions with a coach to get you going on your goals. I am really looking forward to that even though I know actually doing it will be a big challenge, because I have social anxiety. But I can do this. I am the boss of me. The cool thing is the Y is only a couple miles from my house, and it's on the way home from work, so I can go before or after work without going very far out of my way. They have a pool and classes and stuff. Really looking forward to this. And terrified. Both things, really. :-D

No reward today for MWL. Total reward is $17.

Symptoms today: Bad backache, but getting better. Some heart symptoms (palpitations, mild jaw tightness.)

Drugs today: 50 metoprolol morning and evening. No caffeine, no aspirin.
