I forgot to post my pictures from yesterday because by the time I had a spare moment to myself, it was after midnight. :shock:

So, here’s what I ate yesterday:
Breakfast: oatmeal and 1 tsp brown sugar (that's just water in there)

Lunch: A carrot, frozen broccoli and brussel sprouts, brown rice and three bean chili, raspberries

Dinner: mashed sweet potato, mashed white potatoes (with some almond milk - so not fully MWL)

Here’s what I didn’t eat, but was tempted to (hence the choice of a 100% starch bowl at dinner). Mary’s Tofu Spinach Lasagna is served twice a month to the kids: (sadly, only 3 out of 4 of them will eat it, so additional dinners must be made to ensure everyone eats)

Here's what I ate today:

Lunch: Mashed potatoes and hot sauce (I have no excuses today.... I just wanted a whole bowl of potatoes for lunch. I ensured that I included some veggies at dinner...only because I'm photographing...so there's a bit of behaviour modification due to journalling online. Thank you quantum observers. LOL.

Snack: A plate of apples

Dinner: Purple potato, mashed potato, spinach, cherry tomatoes and a delicious pomegranate. Oh, and 1/2 tsp of raspberry vinegar.

Additionally: 2 pots decaf green tea
Exercise : 23 flights of stairs

Reflection: More fruit than recommended on MWL and less veggies. Something to work on.

Hi Buns! - I love happy food. :) I noticed that someone referred to you as Heidi in your journal. May I call you Heidi? (Assuming that's your name...LOL). I hope you are doing well and that journalling is still helping keep your head in this game. The soup was a bit of a throw-together. It contains: 2 litres no-sodium no-oil veggie broth, water, 1 head of cabbage, 1 large onion, 4 stalks of celery, 5 large carrots, um.... 1/2-3/4 cup dried green lentils, 1 jar of no-oil tomato sauce (could use salsa here too for a less sweet flavour, or a jar of crushed tomatoes for a no added salt soup), smoked paprika, oregano and thyme. Instant pot for 30 mins or so. Add salt to taste, and pepper too.

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast: Oatmeal premixed with flax meal, 1 tsp brown sugar and decaf green tea

Lunch: More cabbage lentil soup (I have enough for, like, 10 days!), grapes, broccoli

Snack: Pomegranate
Image

Dinner: 2 Wendy's baked potatoes (one with ketchup, mustard and relish), saluted spinach with sambal olek, and yummy corn.

Additionally: 2 pots decaf green tea
Exercise: 12 flights of stairs in the rain... rainy season has begun here on the island.

Amy, you are such an inspiration! I love your menus and pictures and the title of this journal and how encouraging you are on MWL. I had a major blowout binge yesterday and am thinking I want to commit to everyday journalling too. I would really like to post pictures too because I like to cook and try out new recipes. Could you share how to post pictures? Vee

Hi, Vee,

I'm not Amy, but here's how to post pictures:

1) Take the picture and post it online somewhere. For me, I upload it to SparkPeople, but you could also do it on Flickr (free service) or any other free image hosting, or post it to your Facebook or whatever.

2) Go to your photo online, right click it, and copy the image location.

3) In your McDougall post, click on "Img" (a button above the text editing window) and then paste in the location of the picture (or you can paste in the location, select the whole location, and then click "Img" -- either way works.

If that doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll try to be clearer.

Hi Vee and Idgie! Thank you for the kindness. XO. Vee, I'm sending you some strength as you sort out how to proceed. Journalling can be great. I have to set a time limit to keep myself motivated to do it, but this forum is full of so many people who do it day in and day out to quite good effect. Hopefully those instructions, from Idgie, on how to post a picture will inspire you. I enjoy looking back at the food that I eat because sometimes I get in a rut and its nice to remember what I like visually.

As for today, it was one of those itchy-scratchy cravings days. No particular reason that I can identify, just a desire to eat all the foods in the house. Maybe it's one of those spontaneous recovery cravings that Dr. Lisle talks about in his cram circuit webinar. I had a particular hankering for sweetened coffee but didn't give in. I did, however end up wandering the aisles of the grocery store on a day that I don't normally shop. Oh well, I kept it all McDougall friendly and practically MWL, with the exception of the white rice.

Here's what I ate today:
Breakfast: oatmeal,flax and a tsp of sugar. Evening snack: potato-lentil-leek soup x 2

Lunch #2: Cucumber rolls and 1/2 pint blueberries

Somehow in the rush I missed dinner. A big breakfast is on the menu for tomorrow.

Additionally: 1 pot of decaf green tea, sparkling water
