Anyone pressure cooked wheat berries before?

Hi all,

I bought wheat berries for the first time. I typically use Jill Nussinow's grain cooking time table, however she recommended 25 minutes for unsoaked wheat berries and when I tried this there was a ton of water and I don't think they were even close to being finished. I suppose I will need to experiment with the cooking time, but does anyone else have experience pressure cooking wheat berries?

i use the slow cook function on a rice cooker
usually 2 hours for cooked, no burst grains
4 hours if i want the berries to burst
convenient, doesnt burn
etc

i used to use a giant all-american pressure cooker
and mason jars to make grains
the slow cooker is much less hassle

I haven't cooked wheat berries. I wonder if the age of the berries affects the cooking time similar to older beans requiring more time to cook?

I did find a recipe pressure cooked for 30 and another for 35 minutes with a quick release. Were you using a quick release? Allowing the machine to naturally release can affect the timing.

I did 25 minutes with natural release and there was still a ton of water left. They did not look done at all. I ended up cooking them for another 15 minutes. There was still some water left, but I just drained it out and ate them with a veggie stew I made. They tasted great! I loved the texture. Maybe there is some variability in terms of how well done you want your wheat berries? 30 minutes does not seem like enough time to me, even with natural release, though I've never had them before so maybe they would have been fine.

I have a very old, jiggle weight PC and use it all the time for beans. They all, new and old, supposedly cook at 15 psi or 250 degrees but I have never found any correlation between anyone else's cook times and mine! For wheat berries, kamut, spelt, rye berries, hulled barley...I usually use Crock Pot slow cooker though because I like to only cook single meal batches of grains. I put them in a ceramic bowl that fits inside the pot with about 2 1/2 cups water to 1 cup grain then put a couple cups water in the pot outside of the bowl. Double boiler effect. Nice slow cooking brings out more of the flavors I think and w/ the double boiler set up, no worries if it goes dry. I don't even know exact time for this method, 3-4 hours. I set it up night before so grains are soaked (usually not always), do NOT dump the soak water, then turn it on when get out of bed. After medication and working out it's ready to eat....
