Grocery Shopping List

Postby forgood » Thu Mar 21, 2019 5:37 pm

Trying to stock up my pantry with good foods and making a list.

It would be nice if there was a ready to go McDougal grocery shopping list I could bring with me to the store and check off things.

Maybe there already is?

Frozen vegetables
Fresh fruits and vegetables
Potatoes
Sweet Potatoes and Yams
Rice
Quinoa
Whole Wheat Pasta
Oatmeal
Farina
MS. Dash seasonings

Is there other things I can add?
I tend to eat the same stuff and want to try new things.

This, plus Lyndzie's ideas of canned beans and canned tomatoes, looks a lot like my shopping list! There is a ton of variety in those first two items on your list--you could do a wide range of vegetables and fruits. (I use frozen fruits, too.) I also add things like bottled lemon and lime juice, various vinegars, mustards, and of course, spices galore.

Mary McDougall had a pdf file with a pantry list from a couple of years ago, if that's any help.

I think your list looks fine, and if you add a few more things you will have enough variety to keep you happy for a long time.

One of the fun things about this way of eating is finding all the wonderful ways you can combine a few simple ingredients into good tasting meals. Once you have tried it for a while you will never worry about being bored .

You don't have to do any fancy cooking or planning (unless you enjoy it).

When starch is the basis of your meal, anything else you want to throw in will harmonize -it really is like magic. :D

Going to try some flageolet beans today, as something different.

Thanks, helps a lot! Trying to fill up my empty pantry with a lot of stuff, cause if it's empty, I get tempted to order something crappy.
