Has anyone done T25?

Postby AnnieMaim » Fri Feb 06, 2015 10:00 am

I've been reading up on Shaun T's new(ish) program T25, which I guess is similar to P90x and/or Insanity, but is a 25 minute workout. Not sure if it falls under the category of HIIT or not.

One of the women in a challenge group I'm in has been doing it, and she got me really curious to try it, and I ordered it yesterday.

I haven't done any of the other Shaun T workouts, so I'm not really sure what to expect. (For home workouts I usually do Jillian Michaels circuit DVDs) ...I am, however, really excited for it to arrive.

Well, I started it this morning, and so far, so good.

Day 4 of T25 in the books. This morning was basically 25 minutes of ab exercises. I had to check "barely made it" on the chart, because, well. I barely made it. But I felt so good afterward.

When I got to work, my coworker asked if I'd taken speed this morning because I have so much energy. Ha.

Well, that's the test of a good workout, in my opinion. If you feel energized, you probably did just the right combination of duration and intensity. If you feel exhausted, you probably over did it.

I've been a distance runner for the last four years. I haven't done any cross-training. My abs are probably like silly putty.

I love it so far. Even the ones that are really hard. I almost said "Even the ones I hate!" ...ha.

I'm almost through the second week and my endurance is getting much better. My calorie burn is higher the second time through the workouts, which I guess means I'm able to do more and I'm going harder. Whoo!

I hurt my knee doing Lower Focus (and old roller derby injury) and took a few days off... then got sick. So I'm starting again tonight.

Kick my butt, Shaun T.

That is a butt kicking workout. I bought it but its a little too intense for me. I like old school kettlebells.

I haven't started back since I tweaked my knee injury. My knee feels fine, but I just haven't started back up with this, though I have full intentions to. GAH.

I have been running outside since the weather is finally starting to get nice. 40 degrees and it feels downright tropical.

I really need to get back to doing T25 though. I need those squats in my life.

I just committed to restarting and doing T25 for my second round. I just finished Week 1! I don't remember it being so hard, lol  but 25 minutes sure kicks my butt

I just finished it for the second time. It's a great workout if you're short on time. 25 minutes is quick - in and out! I did insanity before and T25 is much easier. I completed Insanity, too, but would never do it again. Or at least not until my kids are older and I have time on my hands. I was in incredible shape after it but more than physically exhausting it was mentally taxing. It was just a grind to commit to that over and over and over. T25 is a lot more my speed. T25 is something you can keep doing long term. I'm starting my 3rd cycle of it from the top. I'm not quite in the shape I was with insanity, but that's ok, it helps maintain my fitness level. The results you get from it are significant if you stick to it. The key is to stick with it. Over time you will see great results. If you do it for two weeks and stop it's not going to do much for you. You have to stay committed.

If you get injured, do the abbreviated motions w/ Tonya. You shouldn't feel pain when doing these workouts. But don't quit, either. The movements that feel painful, abbreviate them or do something to keep your heartbeat up until the exercise changes.
