Bleach to clean counters and floors?

Postby Doug_ » Mon Feb 11, 2019 6:36 pm

Jeff,

What do you use to clean the house?

Granted if there isn't a direct need to sterilize things due to a virus or bacteria etc, soap and water or even just water is probably good.

But do you use a bleach solution sometimes? Or anything besides vinegar?

My main reason for asking is whether you think the fumes from bleach are in fact harmful. If airing out the house would make it easier on the lungs. But I'm getting conflicting results in my research on whether bleach fumes are bad at all in normal amounts.

My wife strongly dislikes the smell of vinegar so I'm considering alternatives.

Mostly vinegar, water, lemon juice, baking soda

We will occasionally use an EWG Verified or A rated product that is fragrance free.

Yes, vinegar has an odor, which usually dissipates fairly quickly so we tend to dilute it fairly well.

Make sure you are diluting it enough and/or you can add an essential oil.

Thanks Jeff. And good ideas.

So I'm guessing you would suggest avoiding bleach generally other than for maybe laundry.
